Systems And Methods For Facilitating The Exchange Of Information Between Separate Business Entities

US Patent:
6115642, Sep 5, 2000
Filed:
May 22, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/083454
Inventors:
Keith T. Brown - Durham NC
Philip B. Brown - Durham NC
J. William Waddell - Durham NC
Jeffrey J. Andre - Raleigh NC
Assignee:
BuildNet, Inc. - Durham NC
International Classification:
G06F 1900
US Classification:
700104
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and computer program products synchronize product fabrication schedules with supplier schedules. A fabrication schedule is obtained from a fabricator data processing system, and supplier schedules are obtained from respective supplier data processing systems. Restrictive links are established between the fabrication schedule and the supplier schedules. Each restrictive link defines the supplier that will perform a work stage, and can also define the starting and ending times for both fabrication and supplier schedules. Activities in a critical path schedule having an actual ending time that is later than a projected ending time are identified. Float time is assigned to projected starting times of downstream activities not on the critical path such that actual starting times of the downstream activities are identical to projected starting times.

Restrictive links are established between the fabrication schedule and the supplier schedules. Each restrictive link defines the supplier that will perform a work stage, and can also define the starting and ending times for both fabrication and supplier schedules. Float time preceding a selected activity starting time is assigned and utilized to absorb delays in completing activities preceding the selected activity. A computer based product catalog system automatically distributes and updates product information.

Systems And Methods For Facilitating The Exchange Of Information Between Separate Business Entities

US Patent:

Filed:
May 22, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/083453
Inventors:
Keith T. Brown - Durham NC

Assignee:
BuildNet, Inc. - Durham NC
International Classification:
G06F 1900
G06F 1760
US Classification:
700102
Abstract:
A computer based product catalog system is provided for automatically distributing product information to members of a network. Electronically stored catalogs of multiple manufacturers' products, including descriptions of the products, are provided. An electronically stored distributor catalog, including selected products from the various manufacturers is also provided. Descriptions of the products in the manufacturers' catalogs may be updated automatically. In response to the updating of the manufacturers' catalogs, the descriptions of the products in the distributor's catalog may be automatically updated in real time. A terminal located at the retail level of distribution may be operatively connected to the manufacturers' catalogs and to the distributor catalog to allow viewing of product information therewithin. The terminal may enable users to order products from a manufacturer's and distributor's catalog.

Carrageeman-Immobilized Esterase

US Patent:
5262313, Nov 16, 1993
Filed:
Jun 14, 1991
Appl. No.:
7/715829
Inventors:
Barbara S. Kitchell - Austin TX
Robert W. Henkens - Durham NC
Philip Brown - Durham NC
Steven W. Baldwin - Durham NC
Charles H. Lochmuller - Durham NC
John P. O'Daly - Carrboro NC
Assignee:
Andcare, Inc. - Durham NC
International Classification:
C12P 762
C12P 764
C12N 1110
C12N 920
US Classification:
435135
Abstract:
Carrageenan-immobilized enzymes are prepared that are stable and retain high activity toward substrates when used in substantially water-immiscible organic solvents. The carrageenan-immobilized enzymes are preferably prepared by introducing droplets of an enzyme/carrageenan solution into a chilled alcohol saturated with a potassium salt and hardening the droplets in the alcohol. The alcohol is selected from n-butanol, benzyl alcohol, crotyl alcohol, n-propanol, isopropanol and sec-butanol. Reactions catalyzed by a. kappa. -carrageenan-immobilized esterase include steroselective transesterifications and hydrolysis reactions.

End User Training For Computer Vision System

US Patent:
2023009, Mar 30, 2023
Filed:
Sep 30, 2021
Appl. No.:
17/490427
Inventors:
- Tokyo, JP
Philip S. BROWN - Cary NC, US
Michelle M. CROMPTON - Raleigh NC, US
International Classification:
G06Q 20/20
G06Q 30/06
Abstract:
Embodiments herein describe providing feedback to a shopper at a POS system using a computer vision system. Many items at a store may lack barcodes or other identifying marks such as produce. The shopper may have to perform an action to identify the item to the POS system. The computer vision system can double check the identify provided by the shopper to reduce mistakes and deter nefarious actors. If the computer vision system cannot independently confirm that the item being purchased matched the identity provided by the shopper, the POS system can display a graphical user interface (GUI) that includes an image of the item captured by the computer vision system along with identification data of the item identified by the shopper. This gives the shopper a chance to correct any mistakes.

Item Matching And Recognition System

US Patent:
2023010, Mar 30, 2023
Filed:
Sep 30, 2021
Appl. No.:
17/490517
Inventors:
- Tokyo, JP
Robert B. HUTCHISON - Raleigh NC, US
Judith L. ATALLAH - Raleigh NC, US
Philip S. BROWN - Cary NC, US
David P. LAITINEN - Raleigh NC, US
International Classification:
G06Q 20/20
G06N 20/00
Abstract:
Techniques for automatic recognition of items for point of sale (POS) systems are disclosed. A request to identify a first item for purchase is received. The request includes a first image captured at a POS system. The first image is analyzed using a machine learning model configured for image recognition, and in response a first product code is determined for the first item. This includes identifying the first product code as a primary product code from among a plurality of product codes, identifying a second item relating to the first item, where the second item is visually similar to the first item, and determining a second product code for the second item. The first product code, and the second product code, are transmitted to the POS system. The POS system is configured to present the first item and the second item as options for purchase using a user interface.
