Seat Energy Absorber

US Patent:
2021037, Dec 2, 2021
Filed:
May 27, 2020
Appl. No.:
16/884448
Inventors:
- Dearborn MI, US
S.M. Iskander Farooq - Novi MI, US
Mohammad Omar Faruque - Ann Arbor MI, US
Anil Kalra - Canton MI, US
Rahul Arora - Birmingham MI, US
Assignee:
Ford Global Technologies, LLC - Dearborn MI
International Classification:
B60N 2/427
B60K 37/02
B60R 13/02
Abstract:
An assembly includes a seatback defining an occupant-seating area. The seatback has a frame and a rear trim cover. The frame is between the occupant-seating area and the rear trim cover. The assembly includes a seat bottom extending from the seatback below the occupant-seating area. The assembly includes a deformable cell between the frame and the rear trim cover. The deformable cell extends from a first end proximate the frame to a second end proximate the rear trim cover. The deformable cell has a contraction between the first end and the second end.

Node Integrated Deflector For A Vehicle

US Patent:
2021035, Nov 18, 2021
Filed:
May 14, 2020
Appl. No.:
15/931835
Inventors:
- Dearborn MI, US
Rahul Arora - Birmingham MI, US
Michael Musa Azzouz - Dearborn Heights MI, US
Saied Nusier - Canton MI, US
International Classification:
B62D 21/15
Abstract:
A vehicle frame assembly includes, among other things, a main rail and a node assembly attached to the main rail. The node assembly includes a forward mounting member, a rear mounting member, and a deflector extending between the forward mounting member and rear mounting member. When a load exceeds a threshold load that is applied to a front of a vehicle, the deflector is configured to engage a tire and deflect the tire from entering a forward vehicle area.

Energy Absorbing Structures For Traction Battery Packs

US Patent:
2021013, May 6, 2021
Filed:
Nov 5, 2019
Appl. No.:
16/674498
Inventors:
- Dearborn MI, US
Rahul ARORA - Birmingham MI, US
International Classification:
H01M 2/10
B60K 1/04
Abstract:
This disclosure is directed toward traction battery packs that include energy absorbing structures for protecting the internal contents of the battery pack. An exemplary battery pack may include an enclosure assembly and one or more battery arrays that are housed within the enclosure assembly. The enclosure assembly includes an energy absorbing structure that may include a plurality of fluid filled unit cells. The stiffness of each fluid filled unit cell may be controlled by allowing fluid to be released from the unit cells during vehicle impact events, thereby absorbing impact energy that could otherwise be imparted inside the battery pack.

Slidable Truss Assembly For A Vehicle

US Patent:
2021011, Apr 22, 2021
Filed:
Oct 21, 2019
Appl. No.:
