Abstract:
A method for resolving sludge/emulsion formed as a result of adding introduced fluids to oil and gas wells. The method comprises adding a water-dispersible emulsion breaker and/or adjunct additives that may include iron-control chemicals, scale-control chemicals, or paraffin-control chemicals or combinations thereof in amounts sufficient to separate the sludge/emulsion into an oil phase and a water phase and to control iron, scale, or paraffin in the oil phase. Further treatment of water phase includes treatment with water clarifiers, allowing the water phase to remain in settling vessels, and passing the water phase through a macroreticular resin resulting in water that is environmentally acceptable for disposal.

Adjustable Molding System For Forming Material On Pipe

US Patent:
2022020, Jun 30, 2022
Filed:
Dec 29, 2021
Appl. No.:
17/564345
Inventors:
- Houston TX, US
Randall Perkins - Houston TX, US
International Classification:
B29C 63/00
B29C 33/26
B29C 33/30
Abstract:
A molding system for applying insulation to a pipe employs an elongate mold in which to receive the pipe. A mold adjustment mechanism can adjust a shape of the mold to correspond to a shape of the pipe as the pipe sags in the mold cavity. In a method of insulating the pipe, the shape of the mold is adjusted to correspond to the shape of the sagging pipe and curable material is imparted into the mold while maintaining the adjusted shape of the mold. The elongate mold can include at least one double-walled mold member with an inner form wall, an outer jacket, and a plurality of radial supports that support the outer jacket on the inner form wall in radially spaced apart relation therewith.

Strain Testing Rig And Method Of Evaluating Strain Characteristics Of Specimen

US Patent:
2022020, Jun 30, 2022
Filed:
Dec 31, 2020
Appl. No.:
17/139296
Inventors:
- Houston TX, US
Randall Perkins - Houston TX, US
International Classification:
G01N 3/20
G01N 3/08
Abstract:
A strain testing rig for testing an elongate specimen has at least three restraints arranged to be spaced apart along the elongate specimen. Each restraint engages the elongate specimen at a respective contact location such that the strain testing rig defines an independent strain zone between each pair of adjacent contact locations. A drive mechanism moves the at least three restraints to stretch each independent strain zone such that the length of each independent strain zone increases independent of strain in the other zones. The restraints can be pivotably connected end-to-end as a chain linkage. The drive mechanism drives the chain linkage from a first position in which a forward facing side of the chain linkage which opposes the specimen is substantially straight to a second position in which the forward facing side of the chain linkage is convexly curved.

Molding System For Insulated Pipe

US Patent:
2022017, Jun 9, 2022
Filed:
Dec 3, 2021
Appl. No.:
17/457476
Inventors:
- Houston TX, US
Randall Perkins - Houston TX, US
International Classification:
F16L 59/02
B29C 45/14
B29C 45/16
Abstract:
A pipe has first and second exterior layers of insulation. The first layer of insulation has a higher temperature rating than the second. The second layer can be thicker than the first. In a system and method for forming the insulated pipe, a first mold having a first inner diameter is used for the first layer of insulation and a second mold having a second inner diameter greater than the first inner diameter is used for the second layer of insulation. The first layer of insulation is formed from a first polymer and the second is formed over the first layer from a second polymer. Multiple insulated pipes can be joined together at field joints and field joint insulation can be formed from first and second layers of field joint insulation corresponding in material and thickness to the first and second layers of pipe insulation.

System And Method For Applying Moldable Material To A Pipe By Injecting Moldable Material From A Movable Support

US Patent:
2017035, Dec 14, 2017
Filed:
Jun 8, 2016
Appl. No.:
15/177073
Inventors:
- Wilmington DE, US
Randall Perkins - Houston TX, US
International Classification:
B29C 45/14
B29C 45/76
B29C 45/23
B29K 105/20
B29K 105/00
B29K 75/00
B29K 705/00
B29L 23/00
Abstract:
A molding system for applying moldable material to a pipe. An elongate mold has at least one elongate mold member movable relative another elongate mold member between open and closed positions. The mold includes a pipe support that extends generally radially into a mold cavity along a support axis. An inner end of the support is configured to support the pipe in a molding position in which an annular portion of the mold cavity extends circumferentially around the pipe. After moldable material in the annular portion of the mold cavity can support the pipe, the support is withdrawn from the mold cavity by moving outwardly along the support axis. An injector selectively dispenses additional moldable material into a space formed by the support in the existing moldable material.

System And Method For Applying Moldable Material To A Pipe

US Patent:
2017035, Dec 14, 2017
Filed:
Jun 8, 2016
Appl. No.:
15/177066
Inventors:
- WILMINGTON DE, US
Randall Perkins - Houston TX, US
International Classification:
B29C 45/14
B29C 45/00
B29C 45/26
B29C 45/34
B29C 45/80
B29K 75/00
B29L 23/00
B29K 705/00
Abstract:
A molding system for applying moldable material to a pipe. An elongate mold has at least one elongate mold member movable relative another elongate mold member between open and closed positions. In the closed position, the mold may define an elongate vent between the mold members that extends along the longitudinal axis of the mold. Air in the mold cavity displaced by moldable material received into the mold cavity vents through the elongate vent along the longitudinal axis of the mold. The mold can include a positioner that positions the mold members in the closed position while the mold is filled with the moldable material. The positioner also allows movement of the first mold member toward the open position to partially open the mold as the moldable material cures to reduce forces imparted upon the mold due to expansion of the moldable material during curing.
