Methods Of Optical Filament Scribing Of Circuit Patterns With Planar And Non-Planar Portions

US Patent:
6883714, Apr 26, 2005
Filed:
Jul 29, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/207933
Inventors:
Raymond S. Keogh - Farmingdale NY, US
Assignee:
Stratos Lightwave, Inc. - Chicago IL
International Classification:
G06K019/00
US Classification:
235487, 235491
Abstract:
Methods of forming optical filament circuit patterns with planar and non-planar portions are provided. An optical filament circuit pattern is scribed by moving a filament guide and a substrate relative to one another at a speed between about 110 inches/minute and about 190 inches/minute, and dispensing an optical filament on, or in the vicinity of, a surface of the substrate. The filament or the substrate or both have adhesive surface(s). The adhesive surface is capable of being adhesively actuated by application of energy. Energy is applied simultaneous with, or subsequent to, scribing. Preferably, ultrasound energy is applied having an output power between about 2. 0 watts and about 3. 5 watts while applying a pressure to the filament between about 1. 177 Newtons and about 1. 324 Newtons.

Method Of Making A Slotless Electric Motor Or Transducer

US Patent:
5606791, Mar 4, 1997
Filed:
Sep 17, 1993
Appl. No.:
8/123428
Inventors:
Richard J. Fougere - Blacksburg VA
Mohammad Khandan-Barani - Radford VA
Raymond S. Keogh - Farmingdale NY
International Classification:
H02K 1506
US Classification:
29596
Abstract:
A method of making a slotless electric motor wherein the active winding segments are adhesively affixed to a support surface or previously deposited active wire segments to form a self-supporting winding structure. The self-supporting structure is then secured in a magnetic structure of the slotless stator.

Method Of Making Wires Scribed Circuit Boards

US Patent:
4711026, Dec 8, 1987
Filed:
Jul 19, 1985
Appl. No.:
6/756722
Inventors:
Brian E. Swiggett - Huntington NY
Ronald Morino - Sea Cliff NY
Raymond J. Keogh - Huntington NY
Jonathan C. Crowell - Lakeville MA
Andrew J. Schoenberg - Huntington NY
Marju L. Friedrich - Babylon NY
Assignee:
Kollmorgen Technologies Corporation - Dallas TX
International Classification:
H01K 310
US Classification:
29850
Abstract:
This invention relates to interconnection circuit boards and processes for making and modifying interconnection circuit boards wherein adhesive is applied to a wire used in scribing a conductor pattern. The adhesive is activated to a tacky state during the wire scribing operation which forms the conductor pattern, and can thereafter be cured to permanently bond the conductors to the board surface.

Apparatus For Making Scribed Circuit Boards And Circuit Board Modifications

US Patent:
4693778, Sep 15, 1987
Filed:
Jul 19, 1985
Appl. No.:
6/756690
Inventors:
Brian E. Swiggett - Huntington NY
Ronald Morino - Sea Cliff NY
Raymond J. Keogh - Huntington NY
Jonathan C. Crowell - Lakeville MA
Assignee:
Kollmorgen Technologies Corporation - Dallas TX
International Classification:
B23K 2602
B23K 2616
B29C 6516
US Classification:
156361
Abstract:
This invention relates to an apparatus for making circuit boards in which insulated conductors are applied and bonded to a nonconductive surface to form a conductive path between contact points thereon in a predetermined precise pattern.

Self-Commutating Motor And Printed Circuit Armature Therefor

US Patent:
3950662, Apr 13, 1976
Filed:
Jun 4, 1974
Appl. No.:
5/476280
Inventors:
Robert Page Burr - Huntington NY
Raymond J. Keogh - Huntington NY
Assignee:
Photocircuits Division of Kollmorgen Corporation - Hartford CT
International Classification:
H02K 3700
US Classification:
310 46
Abstract:
A self-commutating motor including main magnets to provide a magnetic field and a rotatable printed circuit armature positioned therebetween. The armature rotates in a self-commutating fashion with a pair of centrally mounted brushes. The printed circuit armature includes two insulating layers having printed circuit conductive elements thereon, and a low reluctance laminated core to which the layers are bonded. The conductive elements may be skewed to a maximum of about 3. degree. and the conductive elements of each layer are electrically interconnected so that the forces on the conductive elements, resulting from interaction of the current flowing in the conductors with the magnetic field, cooperate to apply a torque to the armature of the motor.

Direct-Current Stepping Motor Drive System

US Patent:
3940677, Feb 24, 1976
Filed:
Nov 6, 1973
Appl. No.:
5/413334
Inventors:
Ronald Morino - Sea Cliff NY
William B. Tucker - East Norwich NY
Raymond J. Keogh - Huntington NY
Assignee:
Photocircuits Division of Kollmorgen Corporation - Hartford CT
International Classification:
G05B 1132
G05B 1940
H02K 1734
US Classification:
318685
Abstract:
A motor drive system including a direct-current motor arranged in tandem with a stepping motor. The stepping motor is energized by conventional means. The direct-current motor is energized by a constant-current drive means, which is responsive to signals from magnitude and direction sensing means. The direct-current motor and stepping motor coact to provide a controlled mechanical output.
