System And Method For Implementing J2Ee Connector Architecture

US Patent:
7506342, Mar 17, 2009
Filed:
Jul 11, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/617909
Inventors:
Richard Mousseau - Stratham NH, US
Prasenjit Mukherjee - Karnataka, IN
Deborah C. June - Groton MA, US
Assignee:
BEA Systems, Inc. - Redwood Shores CA
International Classification:
G06F 3/00
G06F 9/44
G06F 9/46
G06F 13/00
US Classification:
719320
Abstract:
Systems and methods in accordance with the present invention improve upon standard J2EE Connector Architecture implementations by adding functionality not included in the Architecture specification. An improved implementation can include, for example, packaging and development interfaces that allow any J2EE-compliant resource adapter to plug into J2EE applications in a modular manner. A connection manager can provide a scalable application environment that can support a large number of clients requiring access to an EIS. A connection manager can also provide active connection pool management and deployment. A transaction manager can allow transaction management across multiple resource managers, while a resource adapter can provide support for integrated error logging and tracing. A password converter tool can be used with the security management contract to parse and encrypt any passwords in the deployment descriptor. This description is not intended to be a complete description of, or limit the scope of, the invention.

J2Ee Component Extension Architecture

US Patent:
7930704, Apr 19, 2011
Filed:
Feb 4, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/357810
Inventors:
Richard Mousseau - Stratham NH, US
Prasenjit Mukherjee - Karnataka, IN
Deborah C. June - Groton MA, US
Assignee:
Oracle International Corporation - Redwood Shores CA
International Classification:
G06F 9/46
G06F 15/16
US Classification:
719328, 709203, 718101
Abstract:
The J2EE connector architecture can be extended to reduce coding redundancy and resource consumption. A base J2EE connector can be used to allow an application to communicate with a first system or location. An extended connector can be used to communicate with a second system or location. The extended connector can use communication information located in the base connector, such that the extended connector only needs to store configuration information to allow the application to communicate with the second system or location. This description is not intended to be a complete description of, or limit the scope of, the invention. Other features, aspects, and objects of the invention can be obtained from a review of the specification, the figures, and the claims.

System And Method To Dynamically Extend A Management Information Base Using Snmp In An Application Server Environment

US Patent:
8001228, Aug 16, 2011
Filed:
Jan 15, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/354734
Inventors:
Rajendra Inamdar - N. Chelmsford MA, US
Sandeep Shrivastava - Westford MA, US
Michael Cico - Hampton NH, US
Richard P. Mousseau - Stratham NH, US
Assignee:
Oracle International Corporation - Redwood Shores CA
International Classification:
G06F 15/173
G06F 15/16
US Classification:
709223, 709202, 709224, 709225, 709230
Abstract:
A system and method for sharing security information across multiple SNMP Agents running within a domain, including features such as dynamically extending SNMP MIB to expose customer MBeans with SNMP. The system includes a managed server instance of an application that hosts an SNMP agent. An agent or sub-agent is registered to the SNMP Agent on each managed server and there is a management information base which describes different management attributes that the application server exposes. A network-manager hosts a SNMP manager that communicates with the SNMP Agents. A non-application server specific MBean exposes a set of attributes about the application to the sub-agent and hosts the non-application server specific MBean in a dynamic MIB. The set of attributes are communicated through SNMP by the SNMP Agent to SNMP manager, to extend the SNMP MIB dynamically, and allow the non-application server specific MBean to be exposed through SNMP.

System And Method To Synthesize Custom Metric Attributes From A Set Of Metric Attributes Associated With An Application In An Application Server Environment

US Patent:
8015282, Sep 6, 2011
Filed:
Jan 15, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/354735
Inventors:
Rajendra Inamdar - N. Chelmsford MA, US
Franklin Simpson - Ipswich NH, US
Sandeep Shrivastava - Westford MA, US
Michael Cico - Hampton NH, US
Richard P. Mousseau - Stratham NH, US
Assignee:
Oracle International Corporation - Redwood Shores CA
International Classification:
G06F 15/173
G06F 15/16
US Classification:
709224, 709202, 709223, 709225, 709230
Abstract:
A system and method for synthesizing custom metric attributes from available attributes. The system includes an application server that exposes available metric attributes of a MBean. A network console displays for selection the metric attributes of the MBean on a navigation tree and a view panel is located on the network management console where the metric attributes are dragged. The console and view panel allow network administrators to review monitoring data collected exposed by the application server. Custom attributes are created by combining attributes made available by the application server and can be combined to synthesize a custom expression that can be made available to other managed servers on the application server.

System And Method For Performance Data Collection In A Virtual Environment

US Patent:
8239526, Aug 7, 2012
Filed:
Nov 13, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/618571
Inventors:
Franklin Fulton Simpson - New Impswich NH, US
John Herendeen - Upton MA, US
Richard P. Mousseau - Stratham NH, US
Codanda G. Chinnappa - Marblehead MA, US
Assignee:
Oracle International Corporation - Redwood Shores CA
International Classification:
G06F 15/173
US Classification:
709224
Abstract:
A system and method can deploy and manage software services in virtualized and non-virtualized environments. The system provides a data consumer that manages a plurality of data collectors, wherein each data collector resides on one of the plurality of virtualized and non-virtualized machines in the computing environment and extracts performance data from a set of Virtual Machines running on a specific compute resource using an operating contract. The operating contract includes one or more metric descriptors, wherein each metric descriptor specifies one or more resources associated with the set of Virtual Machines. In addition, a push manager allows the data consumer to register performance data items that need to be handled, wherein the push manager calls the data consumer to process the performance data items at each time the periodic interval elapse.
