Abstract:
In a network utilizing a transmitting peer channel and a receiving peer channel, each channel having a channel gatekeeper, to transport a plurality of types of data packets each having a different priority and requesting an acknowledgment following the transmission of the data packets, a method for dynamically setting the retransmission timer value is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of waiting for the end of a channel burst for a user on the second channel, determining whether the user is requesting an acknowledgment, and determining the retransmission timer value using previous channel request statistics combined with current known gatekeeper information.

A method for the seamless switching of a wireless device between wireless wide area networks (WWANs) and wireless local area networks (WLANs) includes automatically detecting the available WWANs and WLANs, selecting one of the available networks for use by the wireless device, and connecting the wireless device to the selected network. Abstract:
A system and method are provided for tracking and reporting the performance of a network. A client or a user device can access the network through a wired connection or wireless access points. The client maintains a log or track the events that occur during the log-on attempts as well as the communication sessions as well as other data related to the network performance. During the communication session data can be transferred between the client and a network device, such as the central server or a database, in the network, regardless of whether the network device is trusted and secure or not secure.
