Scraper Assembly For A Padfoot Compactor, And Method Of Forming Same

US Patent:
4348134, Sep 7, 1982
Filed:
Jan 24, 1980
Appl. No.:
6/114964
Inventors:
Robert F. Goehler - Greencastle PA
Assignee:
Ingersoll-Rand Company - Woodcliff Lake NJ
International Classification:
E01C 1926
A01B 2904
A01B 2906
US Classification:
404129
Abstract:
The invention comprises a scraper assembly, and a method of forming same, for mounting forwardly of a padfoot-type, earth-compactor drum for scraping earth, mud and clay accretion from between rows of the padfeet, as well as for scraping the same from the faces of the padfeet, and in an embodiment thereof, the assembly comprises an array of longitudinally disposed and parallel rows of teeth arranged with diverging angles therebetween for efficiently cleaning the padfeet in both rotatable directions of the drum. The teeth are secured firmly to an I-beam which extends across the front of the drum, and a mounting assembly, for a fluid-pressure cylinder, is fixed to the I-beam to control a dozer blade.

Plural-Amplitude Vibration Assembly

US Patent:
4550622, Nov 5, 1985
Filed:
May 12, 1983
Appl. No.:
6/493995
Inventors:
David E. La Bonte - Shippensburg PA
Kurt W. Richter - Shippensburg PA
Robert F. Goehler - Greencastle PA
Assignee:
Ingersoll-Rand Company - Woodcliff Lake NJ
International Classification:
B06B 116
US Classification:
74 87
Abstract:
In the embodiment shown, the assembly comprises a pair of apertured weights mounted on a rotatable shaft, each of the weights having abutment surfaces one or another pairs of which close upon each other, depending upon the direction of shaft rotation. One of the weights is keyed to the shaft to rotate therewith; the other weight is freely rotatable relative to the shaft. Upon rotation of the shaft in a first direction, a first pair of the abutment surfaces engage, and the eccentricities of the weights then are so disposed as to produce a given-amplitude vibratory force. Upon rotation of the shaft in a contrary direction, a second pair of the abutment surfaces engage, and the eccentricities of the weights then are so disposed as to produce a vibratory force of a differing amplitude.

Shock Isolation Means For An Earth Compactor Drum

US Patent:
4269536, May 26, 1981
Filed:
Nov 19, 1979
Appl. No.:
6/095638
Inventors:
Robert F. Goehler - Greencastle PA
Assignee:
Ingersoll-Rand Company - Woodcliff Lake NJ
International Classification:
E01C 1938
US Classification:
404117
Abstract:
In a preferred embodiment of the invention a pair of shock plates are disposed in parallel, and substantially bi-planar, coupled together by elastomeric elements. One of the shock plates has a cut-out therein and the other has a limb extending into the cut-out and spaced apart from the sides thereof. The one shock plate is mounted to the drum bearing housing of the earth compactor, and the other shock plate is mounted to the frame. Accordingly, upon the drum being vibrated, or shocked, or otherwise displaced, the limb engages one or more sides of the cut-out, and the movement between the plates is thereby limited to a given distance, in order that the elastomeric coupling will not be unduly stretched, destroyed, or fatigued too early.
