Systems And Methods For Separation Of A Front End Rectifier Power System

US Patent:
7602625, Oct 13, 2009
Filed:
Jan 26, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/627618
Inventors:
Steve Belson - Plano TX, US
Eric Peterson - McKinney TX, US
Robert Guenther - Pepperell MA, US
Assignee:
Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P. - Houston TX
International Classification:
H02M 7/04
US Classification:
363 65
Abstract:
Systems and methods of converting alternating current (AC) power into direct current (DC) power at an intermediate DC voltage are disclosed. Briefly described, one system embodiment comprises a separated front end rectifier system that provides intermediate voltage, direct current (DC) power to a plurality of loads, comprising a modular alternating current to direct current (AC/DC) rectifier coupled to an AC power system that converts received AC power to DC power at a rectified DC voltage, a rectified DC voltage bus coupled to the AC/DC rectifier and at least one modular direct current to direct current (DC/DC) conversion unit coupled to the rectified DC voltage bus and to an intermediate DC voltage bus.

System And Method For A Distributed Front End Rectifier Power System

US Patent:
2007002, Feb 1, 2007
Filed:
Jul 27, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/193266
Inventors:
Steve Belson - Plano TX, US
Shaun Harris - McKinney TX, US
Robert Guenther - Pepperell MA, US
International Classification:
H02J 1/10
US Classification:
307043000
Abstract:
Embodiments of a distributed front-end rectifier system in an electronics system and related methods are disclosed. One system embodiment comprises a first alternating current-to direct current (AC/DC) front end rectifier, a second AC/DC front end rectifier, and an AC power bus directly connected to the first AC/DC front end rectifier and the second AC/DC front end rectifier.

System For Deploying And Retrieving Seismic Source Assembly From Marine Vessel

US Patent:
4313392, Feb 2, 1982
Filed:
Aug 20, 1979
Appl. No.:
6/068312
Inventors:
Robert O. Guenther - Irving TX
Donald F. Huffhines - Richardson TX
Assignee:
Mobil Oil Corporation - New York NY
International Classification:
B63B 2166
US Classification:
114244
Abstract:
A system for deploying and retrieving a seismic source assembly from a marine seismic vessel. The system comprises a guide track which is secured to the underside of an upper deck of the vessel. The chain which absorbs most of the strain due to towing passes through the track and is safely confined therein during the deployment and retrieval of the source assembly. A connector is attached to the chain at each point where a seismic source and a buoy line is to be attached. As the chain is unreeled and as each connector approaches the track, a source and a buoy line is attached to that respective connector. The track is constructed so a connector on the chain with both a source and a buoy line attached can pass therethrough. This procedure is continued until the seismic source assembly is deployed. The procedure is reversed to retrieve the source assembly.

Protection Means For Depth Control Device

US Patent:
4027616, Jun 7, 1977
Filed:
Dec 10, 1975
Appl. No.:
5/639534
Inventors:
Robert O. Guenther - Irving TX
Donald F. Huffhines - Richardson TX
James W. Krall - Irving TX
Charles D. Ray - Dallas TX
Assignee:
Mobil Oil Corporation - New York NY
International Classification:
B63B 2100
US Classification:
114244
Abstract:
A structure is provided for protecting a depth control device used on a marine seismic cable where the device is of the type having a hull formed in two parts and a pair of wings pivotably mounted thereon. The protective structure is comprised of a pair of framelike structures and a ring structure. A framelike structure is mounted on the hull just forward of each wing and extends outward at an angle greater than the angle formed by the leading edge of the wing. This provides an unbroken path from the hull to the wing along which an obstacle, e. g. , buoy line, can slide over the control device without becoming lodged in the gap normally existing between the wing and the hull. The ring structure is positioned on the seismic cable just forward of the control device to protect the device against a buoy line or the like becoming lodged in the gap which is inherently present when the two parts of the hull are joined about a seismic cable. Not only does the present invention protect the depth control device, but it also prevents damage to the buoy lines.
