Abstract:
An apparatus for producing and maintaining a penile erection in a male suffering from erectile dysfunction includes a resilient ring member defining an inner opening through which the penis is inserted. The inside circumferential surface adjacent the inner opening is supple and adapted to contact the shaft of the penis. The cross-sectional area of the inner opening is adjustable between a minimum cross-sectional area which is sized sufficiently small to restrict the return venous blood flow from the penis to the torso (i. e. restrict excessive venous leakage) and larger cross-sectional areas. The apparatus includes a pair of spaced apart handles extending outwardly from the resilient ring member which allow the user of the apparatus to quickly adjust the cross-sectional area of the inner opening. In use, a flaccid penis is inserted through the inner opening of the resilient ring member and the resilient ring member is placed in the closed position at the base of the penis adjacent the torso. With the resilient ring member in the closed position, the apparatus is moved along the penis shaft away from the torso thereby increasing the amount of engorgement of the portion of the penis on the side of the apparatus opposite the torso.

Abstract:
A thermal cracking apparatus for cracking organic or inorganic gases is described. More particularly, the thermal cracker cracks inorganic gases such as arsine and phosphine for use in the growth of III-V compound semiconductor layers. The design of the apparatus minimizes the uptake of contaminants into the cracked gas stream.

Abstract:
A magnetron sputtering source for depositing a material onto a substrate includes a target from which the material is sputtered, a magnet assembly disposed in proximity to the target for confining a plasma at the surface of the target and a drive assembly for scanning the magnet assembly relative to the target. The sputtering source may further include an anode for maintaining substantially constant plasma characteristics as the magnet assembly is scanned relative to the target. The anode may be implemented as variable voltage stationary electrodes positioned at or near the opposite ends of the scan path followed by the magnet assembly, spaced-apart anode wires positioned between the target and the substrate or a movable anode that is scanned with the magnet assembly. The magnet elements of the magnet assembly may have different spacings from the surface of the target to enhance depositional thickness uniformity. The target may be fabricated in sections, each having a target element bonded to a backing element for reduced sensitivity to thermal variations.
