Removable Cartridge For Swing-Type Adsorption System

US Patent:
2005004, Mar 3, 2005
Filed:
Aug 29, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/651862
Inventors:
Glenn Hechinger - Costa Mesa CA, US
Robert Zarate - Murrieta CA, US
International Classification:
B01D053/02
US Classification:
096121000
Abstract:
A removable cartridge for the adsorbent bed of a swing-type adsorber system defines a volume for retaining an adsorbent material within an adsorption bed housing during operation of the adsorption system. Additionally, the cartridge is configured to retain the adsorbent material therein so that the cartridge and the adsorbent material can be removed and installed as a unit.

High Speed Pressure Swing Adsorption Liquid Oxygen/Liquid Nitrogen Generating Plant

US Patent:
4957523, Sep 18, 1990
Filed:
Oct 19, 1989
Appl. No.:
7/425363
Inventors:
Robert A. Zarate - Ontario CA
Richard E. Self - Los Alamitos CA
Lee W. Smith - El Toro CA
Assignee:
Pacific Consolidated Industries - Orange CA
International Classification:
F25J 500
US Classification:
62 13
Abstract:
An apparatus for producing high purity oxygen and nitrogen in the liquid and gaseous phases. The apparatus is a modular, mobile system employing a low design operating pressure. The system purifies ambient air through filters and a dual immobilized fixed bed molecular sieve type pressure swing adsorber prior to the cryogenic distillation of the air. Through the incorporation of the pressure swing adsorber having a high frequency regeneration cycle, the disclosed system provides a reduced system size. The configured system employs waste gas from the distillation process to purge the pressure swing adsorber. The cryogenic distillation procedure includes a heat exchanger, a turboexpander, high and low pressure distillation columns, a subcooler and a condenser.

Shelving System

US Patent:
5595127, Jan 21, 1997
Filed:
Dec 6, 1994
Appl. No.:
8/349825
Inventors:
Brian Eustace - Sierra Madre CA
Robert Zarate - Studio City CA
Assignee:
Hon Industries Inc. - Muscatine IA
International Classification:
A47B 900
US Classification:
108109
Abstract:
A shelving unit comprises a pair of side panels each having a front edge and a rear edge with the edges formed into generally C-shaped channels defining vertical upright support members. A plurality of vertically spaced slots are provided in each support member defining a plurality of vertically spaced rails. A pair of notches are formed in each rail. A shelf is provided with outwardly extending hooks on opposed edges thereof for cooperation with the notches of the support member rails. The shelves are thereby supported by the support members and may be adjusted to any desired pre-selected height.

Three-Bed Nonimmobilized Rapid Pressure-Swing Adsorber

US Patent:
5661987, Sep 2, 1997
Filed:
Oct 25, 1996
Appl. No.:
8/738054
Inventors:
Robert A. Zarate - Costa Mesa CA
Assignee:
Pacific Consolidated Industries - Orange CA
International Classification:
F25J 300
US Classification:
62641
Abstract:
An improved three-bed nonimmobilized rapid pressure-swing adsorber for use in a gas separation system. The three beds are connected in parallel and actuated so that at any one time, at least one of the beds is on-line, purifying the gas stream. The sequence of operation is such that during a full cycle of operation, two of the beds will be purging for at least some of the cycle to reduce the purge gas volume flow requirements, and thus increase the efficiency of the system. When a primary adsorber bed is on-line, another bed may be depressurizing from an on-line condition to a purge condition while the third bed is being purged. At a certain time, both the off-line beds are being purged until the third bed is repressurized in preparation for going on-line. Prior to the first bed going off-line and being depressurized, the third bed is placed on-line to ensure an uninterrupted supply of process gas to the system.

Vaporization System

US Patent:
4599868, Jul 15, 1986
Filed:
Nov 5, 1984
Appl. No.:
6/668516
Inventors:
Robert D. Lutjens - Hacienda Heights CA
Robert A. Zarate - Ontario CA
Assignee:
Cryomec, Incorporated - Anaheim CA
International Classification:
F17C 702
US Classification:
62 53
Abstract:
A system is disclosed which uses hydraulic oil to directly heat and/or vaporize a fluid, for example a cryogenic fluid. The hydraulic oil flow drives a pump which pumps the fluid through a heat exchanger where it is heated by the same hydraulic oil; therefore, the respective flow rates of the oil and fluid are directly proportional to one another and can be regulated so as to avoid freezing of the oil. The hydraulic oil pump is driven by the shaft power of the heat engine, which in turn gives off hot water and gaseous exhaust that may be utilized to further heat the fluid. The shaft power of the heat engine also drives a pump for pumping oil flowing in an auxiliary hydraulic oil circuit, which pump loads the engine so as to increase the temperature of the water coolant and exhaust.
