128849, 128853
Abstract:
The invention herein provides an integrated drape for use in surgical procedures involving anatomical extremities and having a unitary assembled structure, said drape comprising: a flexible panel sheet portion having first and second opposing sides and having a fenestration located therethrough; and a flexible elongate sleeve portion having an open proximal end; wherein the open proximal end of said sleeve is integrally attached to the panel sheet and circumscribes the fenestration. The drape readily accommodates various anatomical extremities, permits the creation of a surgical access site at any location for a given extremity, and is presented to the user as a single, one-piece construction reducing or eliminating the need for obtaining and setting up supplemental drapes for a procedure.

Fenestrated Extremity Surgical Drape

US Patent:
7594512, Sep 29, 2009
Filed:
Oct 7, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/245882
Inventors:
Rogelio Reyes - El Paso TX, US
Mylena S. Holguin - Chicago IL, US
Art Sainz - Santa Teresa NM, US
Jesus R. Loya - El Paso TX, US
Assignee:
Allegiance Corporation - McGaw Park IL
International Classification:
A61B 19/00
US Classification:
128853, 128849, 128850, 128851, 128852
Abstract:
A fenestrated extremity surgical drape has improved seal integrity to reduce the occurrence of pathogenic contamination at the surgical site via migration through the seal. The seal has a non-linear configuration to eliminate uneven stress concentrations commonly located at the corners of rectilinear seals. An elastomeric apertured panel can be disposed between a film panel and a fiber/film laminate panel. These layers can be joined by a heat sealing operation along two spaced apart concentric seal locations ringing the aperture and a fenestration in the laminate panel. The assembly can then be affixed by adhering the underside(s) of one or more panels to a base drape, which has an opening aligned with the aperture and fenestration. A method of forming a fenestrated extremity surgical drape is also disclosed.

Surgical Drape With Position Assisting Fenestration

US Patent:
8079365, Dec 20, 2011
Filed:
May 15, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/803396
Inventors:
Carrie Block - Chicago IL, US
Rogelio Reyes - El Paso TX, US
Assignee:
Allegiance Corporation - McGaw Park IL
International Classification:
A61B 19/00
US Classification:
128853, 128849
Abstract:
A surgical drape has a fenestration configured to aid in identifying an anatomical point of interest and positioning the fenestration at the surgical site. In one preferred form, the surgical drape has a chevron-shaped fenestration for positioning the fenestration relative to the xiphoid process region of a patient, which is useful for establishing the sterile field in certain bariatric procedures. An anesthesia screen at a head of the drape extends laterally to the sides of the base sheet forming the fenestration and defines integral arm board covers. The lateral ends of the anesthesia sheet are sealed in part to close the ends of the arm board covers. A secondary base sheet defining a smaller, secondary fenestration is releasably attached to the base sheet so that the fenestrations can be aligned with one another. Various instrument and chord management features are also included. A method of making the drape is also disclosed.
