Filed:
Jun 2, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/156671
Inventors:
Dennis Livingston - Austin TX, US
Mark Steelman Stone - Cedar Park TX, US
Edward Alan David - Austin TX, US
Steve Stach - Burnet TX, US
Roland Schneider - Round Rock TX, US
Assignee:
GLV Finance Hungary KFT - Munsbach
International Classification:
B08B 3/02
B08B 3/04
B01D 41/04
US Classification:
134 251, 134 2218, 134 34
Abstract:
A cleaning system and method remove localized caked or dewatered solids from flat-plate membranes in a sewage treatment plant. The caked sludge on the membranes is removed by intense coherent water sprays directed into the spaces between cartridges of a cassette, without removing the cartridges from the cassette. The sprays can be delivered from the top and/or bottom of the cassette, or the side panels of a cassette can be removed for spraying from at least one side, preferably both sides, using a mechanical device with movable spray bars and motor-driven advancing of the spray bars. In one preferred form of the system the apparatus includes horizontal cutting jets followed by angled cutting jets that further break up and wash away the loosened sludge. Jet diameter, velocity and pressure are controlled so as not to damage the membranes or cartridges but to achieve efficient cleaning.

Syringe, System And Method For Delivering Oxygen-Ozone

Abstract:
In accordance with at least one exemplary embodiment, a syringe, method and system for delivering a therapeutic amount of ozone are disclosed. An exemplary syringe can have a gas chamber and one or more electrodes. A portion of at least one electrode can be within the gas chamber. Alternatively, singularly or in conjunction, one or both electrodes can be attached to the outside of an exemplary syringe. One or more electrical contact points can be outside the gas chamber. Each electrical contact point can be connected to an electrode. Oxygen gas can provided within the gas chamber of the exemplary syringe. A medical ozone generator can be connected to the syringe via the electrical contact points. Corona discharge can be effectuated via the electrodes, which can result in an amount of ozone gas can being produced from the oxygen gas.

Luminescent Reporter Modality For Analyzing An Assay

US Patent:
2009017, Jul 2, 2009
Filed:
Dec 29, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/345285
Inventors:
Oliver H. Meek - Austin TX, US
Roland Schneider - Austin TX, US
Harold N. Baker - Austin TX, US
Assignee:
LUMINEX CORPORATION - Austin TX
International Classification:
G01N 21/64
G01N 21/76
US Classification:
436172, 422 52
Abstract:
An optical analysis flow system and a method of assay analysis includes a means for facilitating activation of a luminescent material coupled to particles entrained within a fluid assay, wherein the means is arranged such that the activation of the luminescent material is conducted at a site along a flow path of the fluid assay prior to an examination zone of the optical analysis flow system. The method further includes measuring luminescent light emitting from the particles as they flow through the examination zone. Another method of assay analysis includes respectively measuring different types of luminescent light emission from a first set and a second set of particles comprising a fluid assay. An optical analysis system includes at least two distinct means for respectively facilitating the activation of at least two different luminescent materials coupled to particles of a fluid assay.

Point-Of-Care Diagnostic Cartridge Having A Digital Micro-Fluidic Testing Substrate

US Patent:
2020005, Feb 20, 2020
Filed:
Feb 25, 2019
Appl. No.:
16/284855
Inventors:
- San Marcos TX, US
John Carrano - San Marcos TX, US
Roland Schneider - San Marcos TX, US
International Classification:
G01N 33/543
G01N 33/558
B01L 3/00
Abstract:
A specimen delivery cartridge includes a lower housing, and an upper housing. The upper housing is coupled to the lower housing at a hinge. The specimen delivery cartridge further comprises a testing chamber comprising a paper testing substrate. The paper testing substrate may include a wicking conduit and a plurality of test areas. The specimen delivery cartridge may also include a lens assembly proximate the plurality of test areas and operable to transmit light emissions from the plurality of test areas to an image sensor of a computing device. In some embodiments, the specimen delivery cartridge includes a testing substrate having a plurality of test areas made of an array of electrodes. Each electrode is printed on a first side of the testing substrate and coupled to a conductive via formed in the testing substrate and a conductive trace printed on a second, opposing side of the testing substrate.

Multi-Step Processing Device For Nucleic Acid Extraction

US Patent:
2020003, Jan 30, 2020
Filed:
Jul 30, 2019
Appl. No.:
16/526771
Inventors:
- Austin TX, US
Roland Schneider - Austin TX, US
International Classification:
C12N 15/10
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to sample processing device and associated methods of use. The sample processing device includes an internal chassis comprising one or more receiving chamber and one or more corresponding rows of buffer chambers operable to store a buffer liquid. The device also includes an external chassis having an actuator that is operable to actuate a piston. The piston is in turn operable to sequentially engage each buffer chamber of each row of buffer chambers as the internal chassis moves through a series of index positions relative to the external chassis. When actuated, the piston causes the dispensation of fluid from the underlying buffer chambers to the corresponding receiving chambers. A valve is coupled to the internal chassis and operable to sequentially provide a fluid coupling between the respective receiving chambers and each buffer chamber of the corresponding rows of buffer chambers. The device also includes a lever that is operable to move the internal chassis relative to the external chassis though a plurality of index positions in response to the actuator being activated.

Processing Device For Processing A Highly Viscous Sample

US Patent:
2019026, Aug 29, 2019
Filed:
Feb 25, 2019
Appl. No.:
16/284845
Inventors:
- San Marcos TX, US
Roland Schneider - San Marcos TX, US
International Classification:
G01N 1/28
Abstract:
A sample processing device includes a receiving chamber having a chamber inlet and a chamber outlet. The processing device also includes a metering portion having a metering reservoir fluidly coupled to the chamber outlet, and at least one vessel fluidly coupled to the metering reservoir by a syphon. The syphon is operable to actuate upon a preselected volume of liquid being received at the metering reservoir. The syphon includes a syphon inlet and a syphon outlet, with the syphon outlet being fluidly coupled to the vessel. The preselected volume of liquid corresponds to a volume of liquid necessary to deliver a metered volume of fluid to the vessel.
