Near Eye Diffractive Holographic Projection Method

US Patent:
2017037, Dec 28, 2017
Filed:
Jun 27, 2017
Appl. No.:
15/635025
Inventors:
- Los Angeles CA, US
Ryan Ries - La Canada CA, US
International Classification:
G02B 27/01
G02B 26/08
G03H 1/26
G06T 19/00
Abstract:
An augmented reality display device (such as a head mounted device) includes a partially transparent and partially reflective lens, a laser light source, a radio frequency source, a display controller, an acousto-optical modulator, and a microelectromechanical (MEMS) device. The laser light source generates light. The radio frequency (RF) source generates a RF signal. The display controller generates a synchronization signal. The acousto-optical modulator receives at least a portion of the light, modulates the light based on the RF signal, and provides modulated light. The MEMS device receives the synchronization signal from the display controller and reflects the modulated light towards the partially transparent and partially reflective lens. The MEMS device determines a direction in which the modulated light reflects based on the synchronization signal and the partially transparent and partially reflective lens reflecting the modulated laser light towards an eye of a user of the augmented realty display device.

Eye Tracking Via Transparent Near Eye Lens

US Patent:
2017027, Sep 28, 2017
Filed:
Mar 24, 2017
Appl. No.:
15/468470
Inventors:
- Los Angeles CA, US
Ryan Ries - La Canada CA, US
International Classification:
G06F 3/01
G02B 27/00
F21V 8/00
G02B 27/01
Abstract:
A head mounted device includes a transparent display, an infrared light source, and an infrared light receiver. The transparent display has a transparent waveguide and a first and second optical component connected to the transparent waveguide. The infrared light source generates an infrared light directed at the second optical component. The transparent waveguide receives the infrared light from the second optical component and transmits the infrared light to the first optical component. The first optical component directs the infrared light to an eye of a user of the head mounted device and receives a reflection of the infrared light off the eye of the user. The infrared light receiver receives the reflection of the infrared light via the second optical component and generates reflection data based on the received reflection of the infrared light. A position of the eye of the user is identified based on the reflection data.

Visual Indicator For Transparent Display Alignment

US Patent:
2017009, Mar 30, 2017
Filed:
Sep 30, 2015
Appl. No.:
14/870871
Inventors:
- Los Angeles CA, US
Ryan Ries - Los Angeles CA, US
Assignee:
DAQRI, LLC - Los Angeles CA
International Classification:
G02B 27/01
G06F 3/01
G06T 19/00
Abstract:
A head mounted device includes a sensor, a transparent display, and a processor comprising an augmented reality application and an alignment module. The augmented reality application generates a virtual content based on data from the sensor, and displays the virtual content in the transparent display. The alignment module detects an initialization of the augmented reality application and causes a temporary display of an alignment indicator in the transparent display in response to detecting the initialization of the augmented reality application.
