Mar 27, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/400878
Inventors:
Kenneth P. Kearney - Smithtown NY, US
George W. McClellan - Bensalem PA, US
Ryan E. Drummond - Eagleville PA, US
Alan M. Levi - Swarthmore PA, US
Assignee:
InterDigital Technology Corporation - Wilmington DE
International Classification:
H04Q007/20
US Classification:
455458, 4554261
Abstract:
A wireless communication system implements wireless communications between a base station and a plurality of User Equipments (UEs) including paging of UEs by initially processing paging indicator information. A first embodiment involves a UE's physical layer Lbeing configured for interpreting a paging indicator (PI) to activate a preset decoding configuration to process paging data in a pre-specified paging channel (PCH). A second embodiment involves the physical layer control of a next higher level, L, interpreting the paging indicator and configuring the physical layer Lto process paging data in a pre-specified PCH.

Method For Characterizing Base Station Capabilities In A Wireless Communication System And For Avoiding Base Station Overload

US Patent:
7092720, Aug 15, 2006
Filed:
Mar 26, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/810127
Inventors:
Ana Lucia Iacono - Garden City NY, US
Ryan Eric Drummond - Eagleville PA, US
Assignee:
InterDigital Technology Corp. - Wilmington DE
International Classification:
H04Q 7/20
US Classification:
455453, 455450, 455455, 455509, 455510, 455511, 455515, 370329, 370537, 370320, 370331, 370333
Abstract:
A method for characterizing base station processing and memory capabilities in a wireless communications system enables resource allocation to take these capabilities into account and to make allocations that avoid base station overload. A method for allocating resources in a wireless communication system including a base station and a radio network controller (RNC) begins by receiving an allocation request for a new service at the RNC. A set of resources is selected by the RNC to allocate to the new service, taking into account the capabilities of the base station. The allocation request is executed by the RNC if a set of resources can be found that does not exceed the capabilities of the base station.

Vehicle Data Storage And Analysis System And Methods

US Patent:
5638273, Jun 10, 1997
Filed:
Mar 29, 1995
Appl. No.:
8/412881
Inventors:
Ronald W. Coiner - N. Huntingdon PA
John M. Coiner - Penn PA
Ryan E. Drummond - Herminie PA
Assignee:
Remote Control Systems, Inc. - Irwin PA
International Classification:
G06F 1900
US Classification:
36442404
Abstract:
A system for monitoring, recording, and analyzing operational and incident data from a machine, particularly a vehicle. The system includes a computer controlled device, mounted onboard the machine, which collects and records data supplied to it from a variety of sensors positioned to sense operational parameters of the machine. The device provides for storing operational data at one frequency while storing data surrounding an incident or triggering event at a higher frequency, thus, recording incident data with a higher resolution than that associated with normal operating data. The incident data is stored at a higher frequency for predetermined periods both before and after the incident or triggering event.
