Front Body Vehicle Assembly

US Patent:
2023002, Jan 26, 2023
Filed:
Jun 24, 2022
Appl. No.:
17/849044
Inventors:
- Wilmington DE, US
SAMUEL ZENG - Rochester Hills MI, US
Assignee:
Electric Last Mile, Inc., Debtor, c/o David W. Carickhoff, Chapter 7 Trustee - Wilmington DE
International Classification:
B62D 21/15
B60K 1/04
B60R 19/34
B60R 19/18
Abstract:
An energy-absorbing impact assembly for an electric vehicle includes a bumper assembly. The bumper assembly includes an elongated center beam that extends laterally from a first end to a second end and longitudinally between a front side and a rear side. The energy-absorbing impact assembly includes a tubular support positioned on the rear side of the elongated center beam. The energy-absorbing impact assembly includes a crash box positioned on the rear side of the elongated center beam. The energy-absorbing impact assembly includes a ring assembly positioned on the rear side of the elongated center beam. The ring assembly includes a ring body and a plurality of struts that extend from the ring body. The bumper assembly, the tubular support, the crash box, or the ring assembly are configured to deform upon impact.

Distribution Of Gas For Airbag Inflation In A Vehicle

US Patent:
2020035, Nov 12, 2020
Filed:
May 12, 2019
Appl. No.:
16/409825
Inventors:
- Seoul, KR
Samuel Zeng - Superior Township MI, US
International Classification:
B60R 21/233
B60R 21/217
B60R 21/26
Abstract:
A gas distribution system for airbag inflation in a vehicle can include: a passenger airbag including a plurality of inflatable chambers; an airbag inflation device configured to produce a gas when a collision involving the vehicle is sensed and to supply the gas to the passenger airbag, causing deployment of the passenger airbag; and an inflation gas distributor disposed at least partially between the airbag inflation device and the passenger airbag, the inflation gas distributor including a rotatable distributor belt, the inflation gas distributor configured to allow passage of the gas from the airbag inflation device to a first subset of the plurality of chambers, and to impede passage of the gas from the airbag inflation device to a second subset of the plurality of chambers, by rotating the distributor belt to a gas distribution position selected among a plurality of predetermined gas distribution positions.

Dual Chambered Passenger Airbag

US Patent:
2014026, Sep 18, 2014
Filed:
Mar 14, 2014
Appl. No.:
14/212701
Inventors:
- Auburn Hills MI, US
Samuel Zeng - Rochester Hills MI, US
Assignee:
TK Holdings Inc. - Auburn Hills MI
International Classification:
B60R 21/233
US Classification:
2807431, 29428
Abstract:
An airbag includes at least one panel defining an interior of the airbag, and a divider positioned in the interior so as to divide the interior into an upper chamber and a lower chamber A valve mechanism is operatively coupled to the divider for restricting a flow of gases from the lower chamber into the upper chamber The valve mechanism includes one or more valves with a desired aggregate opening(s) and located in predetermined location(s) thereby affecting a designed inflation profile. The divider has an arcuate length L, measured between two divider airbag attachment points and greater than a corresponding linear horizontal airbag length L, measured between the same two attachment points. The passenger side airbag for each unique vehicle is designed by iteratively reconciling the requirements of FMVSS208 with the present airbag design.
