Method And System For Acknowledging The Receipt Of A Transmitted Data Stream In A Wireless Communication System

US Patent:
7161909, Jan 9, 2007
Filed:
Apr 23, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/830990
Inventors:
Sanjeev K. Sharma - Fremont CA, US
Assignee:
Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. - Suwon
International Classification:
H04L 12/56
US Classification:
370235, 370394, 370473
Abstract:
A method and system for acknowledging the receipt of a transmitted data stream in a wireless local area network (WLAN) are disclosed. One aspect of the invention provides a system and method of acknowledging the receipt of a transmitted data stream in a wireless local area network, wherein the system sends a single acknowledgement to the transmitting party after all of the fragment packets, which belong to a sequence, are received in the receiving party. Another aspect of the invention provides a system and method of confirming the receipt of a transmitted data stream in a wireless local area network, wherein the system transmits a plurality of fragment packets without waiting for an acknowledgement for each fragment packet from the receiving party.

Method And System For Synchronizing Two End Terminals Using Beacon Synchronization With Multiple Channels In A Wireless Local Area Network

US Patent:
7388857, Jun 17, 2008
Filed:
Apr 12, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/822589
Inventors:

US Classification:
370350, 370503, 455561, 455502, 455 412
Abstract:
A system and method of synchronizing two end terminals using beacon synchronization in a wireless local area network are disclosed. In one embodiment, the method comprises i) communicating with a first terminal via first and second channels and communicating with a second terminal via the first and second channels, ii) transmitting a first series of beacon frames (B, B, B,. . . , B,. . . , and B) and a second series of beacon frames (B, B, B,. . . , B,. . . , and B) over the first and second channels, respectively, iii) obtaining beacon intervals (b, b), wherein brepresents the beacon interval between the ibeacon frame (B) and the (i+1)beacon frame (B) for the first series of beacon frames and brepresents the beacon interval between the ibeacon frame (B) and the (i+1)beacon frame (B) for the second series of beacon frames, iv) calculating the beacon interval offset value (Δb=|b1−b2|) and v) setting the interval between the beacon frames (Band (Bin the first channel, and the interval between the beacon frames (Band (B) in the second channel, based on the calculated offset value (Δb) so as to perform beacon synchronization.

Method And System For Acknowledging The Receipt Of A Transmitted Data Stream In A Wireless Personal Area Network

US Patent:

Abstract:
A method and system for acknowledging the receipt of a transmitted data stream in a wireless personal area network (WPAN) are disclosed. In one embodiment, a plurality of medium access control (MAC) protocol data units (MPDUs) are transmitted from a transmitting party to a receiving party, and the receiving entity sends a delayed acknowledgment frame to the transmitting party using a bitmap field for each of the fragmented packets instead of using two bytes of an MPDU block for acknowledging each received MPDU. The bitmap field includes a plurality of bitmap values corresponding to the plurality of MPDUs, and each of the plurality of bitmap values is indicative of whether each of the MPDUs is received or not.

Method Of Repeating Data Transmission Between Network Devices By Timing A First Predetermined Period After Previous First Data Transmission

US Patent:
7444443, Oct 28, 2008
Filed:
Feb 28, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/066307
Inventors:
Sanjeev K. Sharma - Herndon VA, US
Anup Bansal - Herndon VA, US
Assignee:
Freescale Semiconductor, Inc. - Austin TX
International Classification:
G06F 13/24
H04Q 7/24
US Classification:
710 30, 710 5, 710 6, 710 34, 370235, 370394, 370409, 370471, 370338, 709227, 709228, 714748, 714749, 714776
Abstract:
A method is provided for transmitting data from a transmitting device () to a receiving device (). The transmitting device transmits a first data frame () to a receiving device a first time (). Then it consecutively transmits the first data frame to the receiving device second through Ntimes (-), each of second through Nfirst data frame transmissions being made a first predetermined time period () after a respective previous first data frame transmission. After this, the transmitting device transmits a second data frame () to the receiving device a second predetermined time period () after the Nfirst data frame transmission. In this method, N is an integer greater than 1, and the second predetermined time period is less than the first predetermined time period.

Method For Polling In A Medium Access Control Protocol

US Patent:
7548552, Jun 16, 2009
Filed:
Jan 18, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/036133
Inventors:
William M. Shvodian - McLean VA, US
Sanjeev K. Sharma - Herndon VA, US
Assignee:
Freescale Semiconductor, Inc. - Austin TX
International Classification:
H04L 12/42
US Classification:
370449, 370450, 370462
Abstract:
A method is provided for a master device () to allocate channel time. The master device sends a polling frame () to a current destination slave device () and a current polled slave device (). The polling frame includes a current destination slave device address (), a current polled slave device address (), and a current payload (). The master device receives a poll acknowledgement frame () if the current polled slave device does not wish to transmit data. However, if no poll acknowledgement frame is received, the master device waits for a set duration then sets the current destination device address to be equal to a new destination device address, sets the current polled device address to be equal to a new polled slave device address, and sets a current payload to be equal to a new payload. This can be repeated until a channel time allocation ends.
