System And Method For Performing Proximity-Based Communication Via Dynamically Registered Communication Devices

US Patent:
7925289, Apr 12, 2011
Filed:
Mar 16, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/405115
Inventors:
Scott L. David - Bainbridge Island WA, US
International Classification:
H04B 7/00
US Classification:
455518, 455 902, 455519, 4554122, 4554143, 455416
Abstract:
A system and method for performing proximity-based communications through dynamic communication device registration is presented. Uniquely identified mobile communication devices are registered with a Service provider notice server. Subscribers of the mobile communications devices configure descriptive parameters, a localized physical coverage area, contact information and privacy preferences. Subscriber groups of subscriber mobile communications devices with matching descriptive parameters are formed. Subscriber group information for a plurality of the mobile communication devices within the localized physical coverage area is provided. Subscribers send a request to communicate with at least one other subscriber in a matching subscriber group.

Computer-Implemented Method For Facilitating Ancillary Use Of A Wireless Service Device For Excess Transmission Bandwidth

US Patent:
8028057, Sep 27, 2011
Filed:
Mar 29, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/749457
Inventors:
Scott L. David - Bainbridge Island WA, US
International Classification:
G06F 15/173
H04L 12/28
US Classification:
709223, 370254
Abstract:
A computer-implemented method for facilitating ancillary use of a wireless service device is provided. A multiplicity of wireless service devices interoperable on a service network are discovered. A primary function performable by a subscriber and an ancillary function performable by a non-subscriber through use of each device through arrangement with the service network and based on availability of capacity for excess transmission bandwidth are determined. The devices that includes an available capacity to perform the ancillary function over the service network are identified. The ancillary function is performed using independent processing at least one of the devices. The ancillary function is also performed using distributed processing in conjunction with at least one other of the devices through the combination, modification and integration of data from the two or more such devices. The subscribers are compensated with payment in exchange for the performance of the ancillary function on their respective device.

A computer-implemented method for compensating ancillary use of a wireless service device for excess transmission bandwidth is provided. Wireless service devices are discovered. Each wireless service device is interoperable on a wireless service network operated by a service provider. For each wireless service device, a primary function performable by a subscriber through the wireless service network and an ancillary function performable by a third party through the wireless service network based on availability of capacity for excess transmission bandwidth are determined. The wireless service devices include an available capacity to perform the ancillary function over the service network is identified. The ancillary function is performed over the excess transmission bandwidth using the identified wireless service devices through combination, modification and integration of data from the two or more other such identified wireless service devices. Participants of the ancillary function in exchange for the performance of the ancillary function are compensated.

System And Method For Providing Notice-Based Communications Through Dynamic Communication Device Registration

US Patent:
2011019, Aug 4, 2011
Filed:
Apr 11, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/084515
Inventors:
Scott L. David - Bainbridge Island WA, US
International Classification:
H04W 4/06
US Classification:
455518
Abstract:
A computer-implemented system and method for providing notice-based communications through dynamic communication device registration is provided. Registrations of communications devices are maintained on a notice server. Subscriber parameter information selected by their respective subscriber is stored. Descriptive parameters, which have been selected from the group comprising personal, cultural, social, religious, political, commercial physical, types of people, types of places, types of businesses, types of services, interests of the subscriber and needs of the subscriber, are received. Localized physical coverage area preferences are received. A list of subscriber groups including such subscriber parameter information for the communications devices is continually monitored at the notice server. The descriptive parameters between the communications devices are matched. Those communications devices that are physically located within the localized physical coverage area selected by their respective subscribers are determined. A mobile communications device that is physically located within the localized physical coverage area is notified.

System And Method For Facilitating Proximity-Based Communication Through Dynamic Communication Device Registration

US Patent:
7505779, Mar 17, 2009
Filed:
Apr 15, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/107547
Inventors:
Scott L. David - Bainbridge Island WA, US
International Classification:
H04B 7/00
US Classification:
455518, 455 902
Abstract:
A system and method for facilitating proximity-based communications through dynamic communication device registration is presented. Collections of offered descriptive parameters autonomously selectable by subscribers of uniquely identified communication devices are stored. A presence of a plurality of the communication devices within a localized physical coverage area is registered. Subscriber autonomous selections of the offered descriptive parameters from the communication devices are enrolled on a dynamic basis. A request to communicate with at least one other subscriber from a requesting subscriber having a communication device within the same localized physical coverage area is processed. One or more responding subscribers having communication devices within the localized physical coverage area are continuously identified. Selected sets of the offered descriptive parameters of the requesting subscriber and of the responding subscribers are autonomously compared.
