Woven Fabric

US Patent:
6349749, Feb 26, 2002
Filed:
Jul 9, 1999
Appl. No.:
09/351045
Inventors:
Scott Quigley - Townville SC
Assignee:
Geschmay Corp. - Greenville SC
International Classification:
D03D 1300
US Classification:
139383, 442203, 442207, 442208, 162904, 162902
Abstract:
A seamed endless papermaking fabric for use with papermaking machines. The fabric includes a plurality of CMD (cross machine direction) yarns intermeshing with a plurality MD (machine direction yarns) in a selected intermeshing pattern forming a contact surface and a support surface. The MD yarns, which are arranged to extend beyond the endmost of the CMD yarns at the opposed first and second ends of the fabric, form a plurality of spaced seaming loops across the fabric. These loops are adapted to interleaf and receive a pintle which forms the seam forming the fabric endless. A first pair of additional yarns are intermeshed in a first intermeshing pattern repeat with the MD yarns outwardly of the endmost of the CMD yarns at one of the opposed ends and a second pair of additional yarns are intermeshed in a second intermeshing pattern repeat with the MD yarns outwardly of the endmost of the CMD yarns at the other of the opposed ends. These first and second pairs of additional yarns separate the endmost CMD yarns from the pintle. The additional yarns are multi-filament yarns while the MD yarns are monofilament yarns.

Papermaking Fabric Analysis Report

US Patent:
6415045, Jul 2, 2002
Filed:
May 10, 1999
Appl. No.:
09/309103
Inventors:
Scott D. Quigley - Townville SC
Sue Henderson - Greenville SC
Assignee:
Wagner Systems Corporation - Greenville SC
International Classification:
G06K 900
US Classification:
382111, 702 34
Abstract:
This invention defines a system and method of generating and reporting a fabric analysis to a customer. Information is generated from various tests performed on the fabric. The information gathered from the tests is then digitized in a computer readable format. The digitized information is compiled into an electronic form. The information organized in the electronic form is the fabric analysis report which is delivered to the customer. The amount of time in which this report allows information to be distributed to the customer is greatly reduced and allow providing an additional advantage over the traditional means of reporting.

Composite Papermaking Fabric

US Patent:
6978809, Dec 27, 2005
Filed:
Sep 29, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/673793
Inventors:
Scott D. Quigley - Townville SC, US
Assignee:
Voith Fabrics - Shreveport LA
International Classification:
D03D023/00
US Classification:
139383A, 139383 R, 139408, 139410, 162903, 442203
Abstract:
A composite papermaking fabric having an upper support fabric including upper warp and weft yarns and a lower contact fabric including lower warp and weft yarns. The upper fabric is woven in a first weave pattern which forms a support surface and the lower fabric is woven in a broken twill weave pattern which forms the contact surface. The composite fabric includes paired binder yarns which weave in alternating sequences with the upper and lower fabrics binding them together. The broken twill weave pattern provides plural floats of cross-machine direction yarns passing outwardly of a plurality of adjacent lower warp yarns forming a plurality of adjacent cross-machine direction floats. Certain of the paired floats comprise a lower weft yarn and a binder yarn while others may comprise two lower weft yarns. The lower weft yarn floats are positioned to shield and protect the binder yarn floats along their entire length.

Warp Bound Composite Papermaking Fabric

US Patent:
7059359, Jun 13, 2006
Filed:
May 22, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/443474
Inventors:
Scott D. Quigley - Townville SC, US
James Brewster - Waskom TX, US
Assignee:
Voith Fabrics - Shreveport LA
International Classification:
D03D 11/00
US Classification:
139383A, 139410, 162348, 162DIG 1
Abstract:
A composite papermaking fabric comprising an upper support fabric and a lower contact fabric. The upper fabric is formed of warp yarns, fabric born warp yarns and weft yarns interwoven to provide the upper fabric with a support surface forming a one up, one down weave. The lower fabric is formed of the fabric born warp yarns interwoven with weft yarns in a weave pattern which provides a weft yarn dominated contact surface. Each of the fabric born warp yarns also weaves over at least one of the upper fabric weft yarns during each repeat of the weave pattern forming binding points which bind the upper and lower fabrics together.

Papermachine Clothing

US Patent:
7491297, Feb 17, 2009

Abstract:
Papermaching clothing for conveying a fibrous web in a machine for producing the fibrous web, whereby a fabric made of fibers which run in the machine direction and in the transverse direction, is disclosed having circular fibers, flat fibers or, as compared with the plane of the clothing formed by them, flattened fibers, such as fibers having an elliptical cross section.

Compound Forming Fabric With Additional Bottom Yarns

US Patent:
2006004, Mar 9, 2006
Filed:
Aug 27, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/928335
Inventors:
Scott Quigley - Townville SC, US
International Classification:
D03D 11/00
US Classification:
139408000
Abstract:
A compound forming fabric having a top weave and a bottom weave. The fabric includes binder warp/weft yarns, where the binder yarns are arranged in groups of at least two interchanging binder yarns. Each group of the binder yarns forms an integral part at least of the top weave. Per group of binder yarns the number of bottom warp/weft yarns only weaving the bottom weave is higher than the number of top warp/weft yarns only weaving the top weave.
