US Classification:
709226, 709223, 709225, 3703952, 37039521
Abstract:
Quality of Service (QoS) and/or bandwidth allocation is managed in a Regional/Access Network (RAN) that provides end-to-end transport between a Network Service Provider (NSP) and/or an Application Service Provider (ASP), and a Customer Premises Network (CPN) that includes a Routing Gateway (RG). A first subsystem is configured to manage QoS and/or bandwidth allocation for an access session in the CPN. A second subsystem is configured to manage QoS and/or bandwidth allocation for an application flow in the CPN. Thus, the RAN can independently manage QoS, session authentication and/or bandwidth allocation for an access session and for an application flow.

Calling Party Ringtone Selection In Telephone System

US Patent:
8139745, Mar 20, 2012
Filed:
Apr 15, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/107128
Inventors:
Douglas B. Alston - Fayetteville GA, US
Frederick C. Iffland - Dunwoody GA, US
Douglas R. O'Neil - Marietta GA, US
Scott T. Stillman - Peachtree City GA, US
Assignee:
AT&T Intellectual Property I, L. P. - Atlanta GA
International Classification:
H04M 3/42
H04M 3/00
US Classification:
37920716, 37937301
Abstract:
A ring tone service is provided to a called party upon receiving a call from a calling party at a device of the called party, where the device annunciates the call according to a particular ring tone as determined by the called party. A network-based call control manager receives a notification that the calling party is calling the called party, and the call control manager queries a network-based ring tone manager to determine the particular ring tone. The ring tone manager notifies the call control manager of the determined ring tone, and the call control manager sets up the call to be annunciated at the device of the called party according to the determined ring tone.

Methods Of Implementing Dynamic Qos And/Or Bandwidth Provisioning And Related Data Networks, Data Service Providers, Routing Gateways, And Computer Program Products

US Patent:
8174970, May 8, 2012
Filed:
Apr 30, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/836941
Inventors:
Maria Adamczyk - Alpharetta GA, US
Thomas Arnold Anschutz - Conyers GA, US
Alan Ryan Blackburn - Woodstock GA, US
Jeffrey Patrick Cassanova - Hiram GA, US
Sammie Walter Hill - Marietta GA, US
Scott Crandall Holt - Decatur GA, US
Nicholas Steven Huslak - Duluth GA, US
Scott Traynham Stillman - Peachtree City GA, US
Steven Allen Wright - Roswell GA, US
Li Zhang - Alpharetta GA, US
Assignee:
AT&T Intellectual Property I, L.P. - Atlanta GA
International Classification:
H04L 12/26
US Classification:
370230, 370235
Abstract:
A method of operating a data network may include establishing a data path through the data network between a routing gateway for a subscriber of the data network and a service provider providing a data service. Moreover, the data service may be provided for use at the routing gateway over the data path during a data session. A request may be received from the service provider wherein the request defines a data flow characteristic for the data path between the routing gateway and the service provider providing the data service during the data session. The data flow characteristic may then be transmitted to a node along the data path between the routing gateway and the service provider for enforcement of the data flow characteristic for the data path at the node. More particularly, the data session may be a point-to-point protocol data session. Related methods, data networks, data service providers, routing gateways, and computer program products are also discussed.

Methods, Systems, And Computer Program Products For Modifying Bandwidth And/Or Quality Of Service For A User Session In A Network

US Patent:
8521889, Aug 27, 2013
Filed:
Jan 13, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/756790
Inventors:
Thomas Arnold Anschutz - Conyers GA, US
Nicholas Steven Huslak - Duluth GA, US
Scott Traynham Stillman - Peachtree City GA, US
Assignee:
AT&T Intellectual Property I, L.P. - Reno NV
International Classification:
G06F 15/16
US Classification:
709228, 709232, 370241
Abstract:
Bandwidth and/or Quality of Service (QoS) for a user session may be modified in a network that includes a Regional/Access Network (RAN) that facilitates differentiated end-to-end data transport between a Network Service Provider (NSP) and/or an Application Service Provider (ASP) and a Customer Premises Network (CPN) that includes a Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) by receiving a request at the NSP and/or the ASP to change the bandwidth and/or QoS associated with the user's session. An Application Programming Interface (API) is used at the NSP and/or the ASP to communicate with the RAN to modify the bandwidth and/or QoS associated with the user's session.

Videoconferencing Using Managed Quality Of Service And/Or Bandwidth Allocation In A Regional/Access Network (Ran)

US Patent:
2004022, Nov 18, 2004
Filed:
Jan 13, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/756784
Inventors:
Nicolas Huslak - Duluth GA, US
Edgar Shrum - Smyrna GA, US
Scott Stillman - Peachtree City GA, US
International Classification:
H04Q011/00
US Classification:
370/260000, 370/352000, 370/401000
Abstract:
Videoconferencing using Quality of Service (QoS) and/or bandwidth allocation in a Regional/Access Network (RAN) that provides end-to-end transport between an Application Service Provider (ASP) and Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) is provided. The CPE may be a Customer Premises Network (CPN) that may, in turn, include a Routing Gateway (RG). A request for a videoconference is received designating a plurality of participants. A desired QoS and/or bandwidth allocation for the videoconference for the plurality of participants is requested from the RAN responsive to the received request for a videoconference using at least one Application Programming Interface (API) call. Confirmation of the request for a desired QoS and/or bandwidth allocation may be received from the RAN. The videoconference is activated for the plurality of participants using the desired QoS and/or bandwidth allocation. A different QoS and/or bandwidth allocation may be provided for video and audio application flows associated with the videoconference.
