Filed:
May 23, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/863695
Inventors:
Seth Rubin - Merrick NY, 11566
International Classification:
G06T 100
US Classification:
345418, 345677, 715517, 715518, 705 27
Abstract:
A method for arranging entities in a two-dimensional lattice including the steps of determining all applicable two-dimensional lattice forms from a predetermined group of lattice forms for a predetermined number of entities to be arranged; determining the dimensions of a bounding region and a uniform separation distance between a center point of each entity for each applicable lattice form; selecting an optimal applicable two-dimensional lattice form; and plotting positions of each of the predetermined number of entities within the optimal applicable two-dimensional lattice form.

Functionalized Active-Nucleus Complex Sensor

US Patent:
2002003, Mar 28, 2002
Filed:
Jul 11, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/903279
Inventors:
Alexander Pines - Berkeley CA, US
David Wemmer - Berkeley CA, US
Megan Spence - Oakland CA, US
Seth Rubin - Albany CA, US
Assignee:
The Reagents of the University of California
International Classification:
A61K049/16
A61K049/12
US Classification:
424/009321, 424/009340, 424/009350, 424/178100, 530/389100
Abstract:
A functionalized active-nucleus complex sensor that selectively associates with one or more target species, and a method for assaying and screening for one or a plurality of target species utilizing one or a plurality of functionalized active-nucleus complexes with at least two of the functionalized active-nucleus complexes having an attraction affinity to different corresponding target species. The functionalized active-nucleus complex has an active-nucleus and a targeting carrier. The method involves functionalizing an active-nucleus, for each functionalized active-nucleus complex, by incorporating the active-nucleus into a macromolucular or molecular complex that is capable of binding one of the target species and then bringing the macromolecular or molecular complexes into contact with the target species and detecting the occurrence of or change in a nuclear magnetic resonance signal from each of the active-nuclei in each of the functionalized active-nucleus complexes.

Method For Detecting Macromolecular Conformational Change And Binding Information

US Patent:
2003016, Sep 4, 2003
Filed:
Oct 9, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/268973
Inventors:
Alexander Pines - Berkeley CA, US
David Wemmer - Berkeley CA, US
Megan Spence - Zurich, CH
Seth Rubin - Albany CA, US
E. Ruiz - Berkeley CA, US
Ivan Dimitrov - North Wales PA, US
Assignee:
THE REGENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA
International Classification:
A61K049/00
C12Q001/68
US Classification:
424/009300, 435/006000
Abstract:
An active-nucleus sensor or a functionalized active-nucleus complex sensor is utilized in a method for detecting conformational change and binding event information in a targeted molecule, wherein the sensor does not participate in the conformational change or binding event. The method directly or indirectly detects the occurrence, deletion, shift, or any measurable change in a magnetic resonance signal with a unique magnetic resonance property from the active-nuclei, frequently hyperpolarized Xe.

Functionalized Active-Nucleus Complex Sensor

US Patent:
2004006, Apr 1, 2004
Filed:
Sep 15, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/663113
Inventors:
Alexander Pines - Berkeley CA, US
David Wemmer - Berkeley CA, US
Megan Spence - Oakland CA, US
Seth Rubin - Albany CA, US
International Classification:
A61K049/00
C07F001/00
C08B037/16
C07K016/46
US Classification:
424/009341, 424/009350, 530/391100, 536/103000, 534/010000
Abstract:
A functionalized active-nucleus complex sensor that selectively associates with one or more target species. The functionalized active-nucleus complex comprises an active-nucleus and a targeting carrier. The targeting carrier comprises a first binding region having at least a minimal transient binding of the active-nucleus to form the functionalized active-nucleus complex that produces a detectable signal when the functionalized active-nucleus complex associates with the target species and a second binding region that selectively associates with the target species. Included is a method for assaying and screening for one or a plurality of target species utilizing one or a plurality of functionalized active-nucleus complexes with at least two of the functionalized active-nucleus complexes having an attraction affinity to different corresponding target species. The method comprises the steps of functionalizing an active-nucleus, for each functionalized active-nucleus complex, by incorporating the active-nucleus into a macromolucular or molecular complex that is capable of binding one of the target species. Then bringing the macromolecular or molecular complexes into contact with the target species and detecting the occurrence of or change in a nuclear magnetic resonance signal from each of the active-nuclei in each of the functionalized active-nucleus complexes in order to either monitor the occurrence of binding between each of the functionalized active-nucleus complexes and the target species or monitor a subsequent change in the environment of the target species after the binding occurs.
