Collapsible Links For Circuit Breakers, Systems, And Methods Of Use Thereof

US Patent:
2019021, Jul 11, 2019
Filed:
Jan 5, 2018
Appl. No.:
15/862952
Inventors:
- Baden, CH
Amit Bose - Secunderabad, IN
Dhirendra Kumar Tiwari - Farmington CT, US
Katherine Marjorie Coughlin - West Hartford CT, US
Shawn Couceiro Fonseca - Newington CT, US
International Classification:
H01H 71/52
H01H 71/02
H01H 1/58
Abstract:
A collapsible link device includes a side frame, a carrier, a main contact arm, a plurality of collapsible links, and a release mechanism. The carrier is pivotably coupled to the side frame. The main contact arm is pivotably coupled to the carrier and includes a first end including a first electrical contact. The plurality of collapsible links are pivotably coupled to the side frame and the carrier. The release mechanism is pivotably coupled to at least one of the collapsible links and the carrier. The plurality of collapsible links are movable between an uncollapsed position in which the first electrical contact contacts a second electrical contact and a collapsed position that results from the first electrical contact separating from the second electrical contact.

Circuit Breaker Crossbar Assembly

US Patent:
2016034, Nov 24, 2016
Filed:
May 20, 2015
Appl. No.:
14/717250
Inventors:
- Schenectady NY, US
Shawn Couceiro Fonseca - Newington CT, US
Linda Yvonne Jacobs - Barkhamstad CT, US
Dhirendra Kumar Tiwari - Farmington CT, US
Nagesh Venkata Tumu - Farmington CT, US
International Classification:
H01H 71/02
H01H 71/10
Abstract:
A circuit breaker crossbar assembly includes a crossbar having a first and second segment, the first and second segment each operatively coupled to a respective moveable contact arm assembly. Also included is a coupling segment disposed between the first and second segment, the crossbar and the coupling segment rotatable about an axis. Further included is at least one support assembly operatively coupled to the coupling segment. The support assembly includes a bushing coupled to the coupling segment and rotatable with the crossbar and the coupling segment. The support assembly also includes a support bracket configured for affixation to a stationary structure and disposed adjacent to the bushing, the bushing rotatable relative to the support bracket. The support assembly further includes a fixing bracket engaged with the support bracket and disposed adjacent to the bushing, the bushing rotatable relative to the fixing bracket.

Circuit Breaker Including Current Path Geometries That Increase Contact Popping Level

US Patent:
2016024, Aug 18, 2016
Filed:
Feb 17, 2015
Appl. No.:
14/624471
Inventors:
- Schenectady NY, US
Shawn Couceiro Fonseca - Newington CT, US
Linda Yvonne Jacobs - Barkhamsted CT, US
Dhirendra Kumar Tiwari - Farmington CT, US
International Classification:
H01H 1/22
H01H 1/023
Abstract:
A circuit breaker includes a housing, and a movable contact arm arranged in the housing. The movable contact arm includes a movable contact. A stationary contact assembly is arranged in the housing. The stationary contact assembly includes a base member including a first side and an opposing, second side. An anti-popping recess having a wall portion formed in one of the first and second sides and defines a cantilevered arm portion. A stationary contact member extends from the first side toward the second side.
