Triple Lumen Stone Balloon Catheter And Method

US Patent:
7481800, Jan 27, 2009
Filed:
Feb 2, 2001
Appl. No.:
10/182346
Inventors:
Steven L. Jacques - Westford MA, US
Assignee:
ConMed Endoscopic Technologies - Utica NY
International Classification:
A61M 5/00
US Classification:
604264, 604 9601, 600431
Abstract:
A triple lumen stone balloon catheter () having a tapered distal end (). A lumen () dedicated to transmitting contrast media is dimensioned and adapted to conform to the shape of a kidney in a main shaft of the catheter and conform to the shape of a crescent in a distal end of the catheter. The geometric shaping of the contrast media lumen () enables wall thickness to be maintained within acceptable ranges to sustain desirable mechanical characteristics while allowing for enhanced contrast media flow. A method for employing the balloon catheter () is also disclosed.

Low Profile Short Tapered Tip Catheter

US Patent:
7648502, Jan 19, 2010
Filed:
Oct 31, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/698496
Inventors:
Steven L. Jacques - Westford MA, US
Assignee:
Conmed Endoscopic Technologies, Inc. - Utica NY
International Classification:
A61B 18/18
US Classification:
606 47, 606167
Abstract:
A low profile, short, tapered distal tip catheter and methods for its manufacture are provided. The catheter tip is configured to have a taper over a relatively short length resulting in a low profile that is useful when navigating the catheter tip into tight passages such as the Papilla of Vater. The configuration of the tip and process for making it can be employed in any medical catheter but are found to be most useful in a multilumen papillotome catheter used in biliary procedures.

Medical Devices And Methods Of Use

US Patent:
2005026, Dec 1, 2005
Filed:
May 12, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/127662
Inventors:
Steven Jacques - Westford MA, US
International Classification:
A61M005/32
US Classification:
604175000
Abstract:
A medical device for creating a fistula in a patient has a catheter including a first lumen and a second lumen for forming a fistula inside a body organ of a patient is disclosed. The second lumen may be capable of fluid communication with an internal bolster, wherein the internal bolster is attachable to the catheter near the distal end and is at least partially filled with a liquid. An external bolster may be adjustably attachable to the catheter outside the patient. Methods of use of medical devices according to the present invention are also disclosed. In one aspect of a method of use, at least a portion of the liquid within an internal bolster may be removed. Such a process may substantially collapse the internal bolster for removal of the medical device.

Methods And Systems For Providing Fluid Communication With A Gastrostomy Tube

US Patent:
2007027, Nov 29, 2007
Filed:
Jun 29, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/629724
Inventors:
Anthony Downing - Ayer MA, US
James Wilkie - Melrose MA, US
Ronald Court - Pelham NH, US
Steven Jacques - Westford MA, US
Michael Gauderer - Greenville SC, US
Assignee:
C. R. BARD, INC. - Murray Hill NJ
International Classification:
A61M 25/16
US Classification:
604535000
Abstract:
A low profile adaptor is disclosed to reduce the length of a gastrostomy tube that has been inserted by means of conventional endoscopic procedures or with a replacement feeding tube inserted into the patient's stomach. The gastrostomy tube is cut to the appropriate length by the physician. The adaptor comprises a stem which is inserted into the open end of the gastrostomy tube. The valve assembly contains a seal that functions as a one-way valve to prevent reflux of gastric contents but permits the introduction of feeding solution into the feeding tube. A lock and key mechanism is incorporated into the hub of the gastrostomy tube to prevent disconnection of the feeding tube. A cover is placed over the opening of the adapter to prevent contamination of the lumen of the gastrostomy tube.

Gastric Balloon Devices And Methods Of Use

US Patent:
2008026, Oct 23, 2008
Filed:
May 12, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/596234
Inventors:
Steven L. Jacques - Westford MA, US
Assignee:
C.R. Bard, Inc. - Murray Hill NJ
International Classification:
A61M 29/02
US Classification:
606192, 606191
Abstract:
A gastric balloon devices and systems () for occupying space within a stomach of a patient are disclosed. In one embodiment, such a gastric balloon device () includes a shaft element () for insertion into a stomach () of a patient and a generally elongated balloon element () having at least one pleat region (). Methods of use of a gastric balloon device or system are also disclosed. For example, a gastric balloon system () is provided including a generally elongated balloon element (), wherein the balloon element () includes at least one pleat region (). Further, the balloon element () is furled and inserted through a stoma into the stomach () of the patient and at least partially expanded. In another method a balloon element () is inserted into a stomach () of a patient, wherein a stoma is formed nearer to a duodenum () than a fundus region of the stomach (), and the balloon element () is at least partially expanded.
