Drink Bottle Carton Holder

US Patent:
4757897, Jul 19, 1988
Filed:
Oct 7, 1986
Appl. No.:
6/916425
Inventors:
Thomas H. Fogt - West Carrollton OH
International Classification:
B65D 6500
US Classification:
206427
Abstract:
A bottle carton holder (10) includes a rectangular box assembly (12) having side and end walls (16a,b and 18a,b) and a bottom wall (20) to define a rectangular cavity (22). Divider members (28a,b) are positioned approximately midway between the end walls for dividing the cavity into approximately equal cavities, each of a size and shape for holding a carton of drink bottles with the long axes thereof extending from sidewall to sidewall. The divider members are located at the sidewalls and do not extend inwardly very far but do extend substantially higher than the sidewalls. Each of the end walls includes a stabilizing surface (38) for contacting a supporting surface (36) at a position located laterally further from the cavity (22) than any stabilizing surface on a sidewall. The bottle carton holder includes U-shaped hooks (14a,b) with laterally bent ends (46) extending about cartons located adjacent to the end walls and engaging the end walls for stabilizing the cartons.

Ice Maker Flexible Tray Construction

US Patent:
4142377, Mar 6, 1979
Filed:
Dec 2, 1977
Appl. No.:
5/856918
Inventors:
Thomas H. Fogt - West Carrollton OH
Assignee:
General Motors Corporation - Detroit MI
International Classification:
F25C 110
US Classification:
62135
Abstract:
A flexible ice tray for an automatic ice maker allowing improved temperature sensing and ice harvesting. An inverted channel is formed in the bottom wall of at least first and second ice cube sensing pockets along the tray's axis of rotation. A separate member, in the form of a rectangular sectioned block of insulation, is removably positioned on the underside of the tray and cooperates with the inverted channel to define a sensing well for enclosing a temperature sensor tube positioned on the rotational axis. The tube sensor is insulated so as to respond only to the change in temperature in the first and second pockets, while the block prevents rapid bottom freezing of the cubes being sensed. The block is retained in a shiftable manner with respect to the tray to provide substantially uniform stiffness for all the tray pockets whereby twisting of the tray allows flexing of the sensing pockets to insure the release of the ice pieces formed therein.

Ice Dispenser Container Coupling

US Patent:
3930380, Jan 6, 1976
Filed:
Aug 19, 1974
Appl. No.:
5/498755
Inventors:
Thomas H. Fogt - West Carrollton OH
Assignee:
General Motors Corporation - Detroit MI
International Classification:
F12D 352
US Classification:
64 15C
Abstract:
A self-aligning shaft coupling in which an open coil, helical spring is carried by a flanged disc on a driven shaft for releasable coupling within a housing mounted on a driving shaft wherein the shaft may be in axial or offset misalignment. The housing has a cylindrical internal peripheral surface closed at its rearward end by a face having a plurality of axially extending radially spaced lugs integrally formed thereon, any one of said lugs providing the sole coupling spring driving means. The spring has identical end-turned portions each of which are square with the spring axis and terminate in inwardly directed radial tangs so as to engage a slot in the driven disc and one of the lugs of the driving housing respectively, to provide a flexible torsional shaft coupling that is readily separable.
