Ultrasonic Diagnostic Imaging System With High Frame Rate Synthetic Transmit Focus

US Patent:
6432056, Aug 13, 2002
Filed:
Oct 8, 1999
Appl. No.:
09/415958
Inventors:
Clifford R. Cooley - Seattle WA
Thomas J Sabourin - Mill Creek WA
Brent Stephen Robinson - Kirkland WA
Assignee:
ATL Ultrasound - Bothell WA
International Classification:
A61B 800
US Classification:
600443, 600447
Abstract:
An ultrasonic diagnostic imaging system is provided which produces scanlines with synthesized transmit foci at a high frame rate of display. Beams are transmitted and received which have different beam steering and focal characteristics. At least one of the received beams is weighted and the steering and focal characteristics of the weighted received beams are interpolated to form scanlines for display which exhibit the focal properties of both beams.

Simultaneous Generation Of Spatially Compounded And Non-Compounded Images

US Patent:
7346228, Mar 18, 2008
Filed:
Sep 9, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/658723
Inventors:
Thomas J. Sabourin - Milwaukee WI, US
Michael J. Washburn - Brookfield WI, US
Assignee:
GE Medical Systems Global Technology Company, LLC - Waukesha WI
International Classification:
G06K 9/36
A61B 8/00
US Classification:
382284, 382132, 600443
Abstract:
One or more embodiments of the present invention relates to a method and system for simultaneously generating spatially compounded and non-compounded images. In one embodiment, the present invention relates to a method for generating images using an ultrasound apparatus. This method comprises storing at least one frame and generating at least one image output from the at least one frame. The method further comprises displaying at least the generated image output.

Systems And Methods For Proactive Detection Of Imaging Chain Problems During Normal System Operation

US Patent:
7415371, Aug 19, 2008
Filed:
Jul 20, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/490289
Inventors:
Thomas James Sabourin - Milwaukee WI, US
Gregory Charles Stratton - Wauwatosa WI, US
Michael Richard Mortiz - Brookfield WI, US
Assignee:
General Electric Company - Schenectady NY
International Classification:
G06F 19/00
US Classification:
702 69, 356 73
Abstract:
Certain embodiments of the present invention provide a method for performing diagnostics in a medical imaging system during the normal operating mode of the imaging system including firing a diagnostic vector with a probe, collecting signal data based at least in part on the diagnostic vector, and processing the signal data to determine a diagnostic status. The diagnostic status indicates an operating condition of at least one component of the medical imaging system.

Methods And Systems For Acquiring Ultrasound Image Data

US Patent:
2007001, Jan 11, 2007
Filed:
May 26, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/138199
Inventors:
Thomas Sabourin - Milwaukee WI, US
Michelle Angle - Muskego WI, US
Robert Thompson - Burnaby, CA
International Classification:
A61B 8/00
US Classification:
600453000
Abstract:
Methods and systems for acquiring ultrasound image information are provided. The method includes receiving compounding image information from an ultrasound system, receiving color flow image information from the ultrasound system, and processing the received compounding image information and color flow image information to generate a compounded ultrasound image in combination with color flow imaging.

Ultrasonic Diagnostic Imaging System With Synthesized Transmit Focus

US Patent:
6315723, Nov 13, 2001
Filed:
Oct 8, 1999
Appl. No.:
9/415959
Inventors:
Brent Stephen Robinson - Kirkland WA
Thomas J Sabourin - Mill Creek WA
Clifford R. Cooley - Seattle WA
Assignee:
ATL Ultrasound - Bothell WA
International Classification:
A61B 800
US Classification:
600443
Abstract:
An ultrasonic diagnostic imaging system is provided with synthesized transmit focus. Several beams are transmitted, each with a different transmit focus. Echoes received from the differently focused beams are combined to form a scanline with an extended focus. The echoes are preferably weighted and/or phase adjusted prior to being combined. Combining is performed in the r. f. domain before nonlinear processing of the signals such as amplitude detection. The resultant extended focus scanline exhibits the property of dynamic transmit focusing.

System And Method For Displaying Ultrasound Images

US Patent:
2015018, Jul 2, 2015
Filed:
Dec 27, 2013
Appl. No.:
14/141881
Inventors:
- Schenectady NY, US
Thomas Sabourin - Milwaukee WI, US
Assignee:
General Electric Company - Schenectady NY
International Classification:
A61B 8/00
A61B 8/08
A61B 19/00
A61B 8/14
Abstract:
An ultrasound imaging system comprises a probe configured to transmit ultrasound signals toward a target region of interest (ROI) and receive returned echo data from the target ROI. The system further comprises a sensor for generating a signal relating to a probe orientation, a display for displaying an image of the target ROI and a processor connected the probe for receiving the echo data and generating the image of the target ROI. The processor is further configured to receive the probe orientation signal and display the image of the target ROI based on the probe orientation signal.
