Automatic Recovery System For Frozen Product Machines

US Patent:
8196423, Jun 12, 2012
Filed:
May 22, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/454741
Inventors:
Kyle B. Elsom - Batavia IL, US
Vincenzo DiFatta - Wood Dale IL, US
Christopher Knight - Lisle IL, US
Assignee:
IMI Cornelius Inc. - Glendale Heights IL
International Classification:
A23G 9/00
US Classification:
62342, 62346
Abstract:
A recovery system for a frozen product dispenser accommodates automatic recovery and continued operation of the dispenser in response to the output torque of a beater bar and scraper assembly drive motor exceeding a selected upper limit due to transient conditions. A controller monitors the output torque of the drive motor and, upon sensing an output torque in excess of the selected upper limit, shuts off the drive motor and operates a refrigeration system to defrost a freeze barrel within which the beater bar and scraper assembly is rotated, for a time sufficient to defrost product in the barrel. The controller then turns on the drive motor, operates the refrigeration system to refreeze product in the barrel and continues to monitor the output torque of the drive motor. The foregoing operation is repeated several times, if and as necessary, before a system error is generated.

Detection And Correction Of Reverse Operation Of A Compressor In A Refrigeration System

US Patent:
8225621, Jul 24, 2012
Filed:
May 22, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/454821
Inventors:
Vincenzo DiFatta - Wood Dale IL, US
Christopher J. Knight - Lisle IL, US
Wali Li - Naperville IL, US
Nikolay V. Popov - Warrenville IL, US
Assignee:
IMI Cornelius, Inc. - Glendale Heights IL
International Classification:
F25B 1/00
F25B 49/00
G01K 13/00
US Classification:
622283, 62129, 622281
Abstract:
A method and system for detecting and correcting unintended reverse or backward operation of an electric motor driven scroll compressor of a refrigeration system is characterized by monitoring the pressure at a suction side of the compressor during operation of the refrigeration and determining whether the pressure, after a first time interval following startup of the compressor, exceeds and remains in excess of a predetermined upper pressure limit for at least a second time interval. If it does, the compressor is turned off for a third time interval and is then restarted. The foregoing is repeated and if the compressor is turned off a selected number of times because of successive occurrences of high suction side pressures during operation of the refrigeration system in a chilling cycle, an error indication is generated and the refrigeration system is shut down.

Switching Device With Critical Switch Detection

US Patent:
2008002, Jan 31, 2008
Filed:
Oct 4, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/543304
Inventors:
Vincenzo DiFatta - Wood Dale IL, US
Timothy E. Blazier - Elgin IL, US
Woo Chee Ngai - Singapore, SG
Assignee:
Emerson Electric Co. - St. Louis MO
International Classification:
H03M 11/00
US Classification:
341 22
Abstract:
A system is provided comprising a switching device and a response module. The switching device has a critical switch and a plurality of non-critical switches. The switching device generates an analog output voltage based on a switching state of the critical switch and each of the non-critical switches. The response module monitors the analog output voltage. The response module detects when the critical switch is closed, regardless of whether any non-critical switch is closed or any non-critical switch is open.

Smart Personal Protective Equipment

US Patent:
2019021, Jul 11, 2019
Filed:
Jan 7, 2019
Appl. No.:
16/241062
Inventors:
- Niles IL, US
Jeffrey L. Garascia - Dublin OH, US
Vincenzo DiFatta - Wood Dale IL, US
International Classification:
G08B 13/24

A controller is communicatively coupled to the lock. An automatic identification and data capture system includes a tag and a reader. The reader is communicatively coupled to the controller. When the reader receives a signal from the tag indicating the presence of the tag within an opening envelope, the reader communicates with the controller to transmit a signal to the lock to change the state of the lock from the locked state to the unlocked state. The tag is located on or in the personal protective equipment item. The system may include a second tag on the appliance, the signal of which is attenuated by a user's body and compared to the signal from the first tag to determine whether protective equipment is worn.
