Scrolling And Zooming Of A Portable Device Display With Device Motion

US Patent:
2011010, May 5, 2011
Filed:
Nov 5, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/590413
Inventors:
Will John Temple - Incline Village NV, US
International Classification:
G09G 5/00
US Classification:
345619, 345156
Abstract:
A portable computing device () with a display screen () that may be scrolled and/or zoomed in response to changes in the spatial orientation of the computing device. Changes in the spatial orientation of the computing device are sensed by accelerometers () contained in the device. Software converts signals sent by the accelerometers to scrolling or zooming commands that scroll and/or zoom the display screen. Motion of the computing device in the plane of the display screen of the computing device results in scrolling the display screen in the opposing direction of the motion of the computing device a distance greater than the distance the computing device is moved. Motion of the computing device perpendicular to the plane of the display screen zooms the display screen in or out. Motion of the computing device toward the user results in the display screen being zoomed in to reveal greater detail. Motion of the computing device away from the user results in the display screen being zoomed out to reveal more content.

Compound Parabolic Radiant Concentrator

US Patent:
2021026, Aug 26, 2021
Filed:
Apr 27, 2021
Appl. No.:
17/241862
Inventors:
Will John Temple - Placerville CA, US
International Classification:
H01L 31/054
H01L 31/068
H02S 20/32
H02S 40/22
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a device () for the use of concentrating radiant energy onto a receiver (). The device comprises a first concentrator () that is filled with a transmissible material for the use of increasing the acceptance angle of the concentrator and concentrating the radiant energy onto a bifacial receiver (). Embodiments also comprise a second concentrator () that directs the concentrated radiant energy to both sides of the bifacial receiver, whereby the second concentrator enables the device to use a substantially smaller receiver. In some embodiments, the receivers comprise photovoltaic (PV) cells.

Grid Interactive Water Heater

US Patent:
2021012, Apr 29, 2021
Filed:
Nov 12, 2020
Appl. No.:
17/096071
Inventors:
Will John Temple - Placerville CA, US
International Classification:
F25B 30/06
F25B 27/00
F25B 30/02
Abstract:
The present disclosure generally relates to hot water heaters that are for the use of using electricity to store heat energy for current or later use. In some embodiments, the heat energy is stored in Thermal Energy Storage (TES) to store excess electrical energy for the later use of heating water. The present disclosure also relating to several species of the invention which relate to the water tank being a Grid Interactive Water Heater (GIWH). Some of the embodiments disclose methods of storing heat energy at a lower temperature than the hot water in the tank, which avoids being limited to phase change materials that phase change withing the narrow range of the hot water temperature. Another embodiment makes hydrogen for the use of heating water. Another uses the exhaust heat from a heat engine to improve the overall efficiency over common CHP water heaters.

Heat Pump Utilizing Thermal Energy Storage

US Patent:
2020039, Dec 17, 2020
Filed:
Aug 28, 2019
Appl. No.:
16/554322
Inventors:
Will John Temple - Placerville CA, US
International Classification:
F25B 30/06
F25B 27/00
F25B 30/02
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a heat pump system for the use of cooling or heating comprising at least one TES (), wherein the TES comprises thermal energy storage. The TES is placed downstream of a heat exchanger () and generally placed upstream of a pressure changing device () or regenerator (), wherein the TES exchanges heat energy with a fluid () of the heat pump, and wherein the heat pump system exchanges heat energy between an enclosed space () and some ambient heat source outside the enclosed space. The TES is generally charged with thermal energy, which may be cool or heat energy, during favorable times of a daily temperature cycle. The TES then transfers the stored thermal energy to assist in cooling or heating the enclosed space. The present disclosure also relating to several species of the invention which all relate to the use of the aforementioned exchange and transfer of heat energy into and/or out of a TES for the use of using the relative cool of night to cool an enclosed space, and/or using the relative warmth of the day to heat an enclosed space.

Extendable Vehicle Bumper

US Patent:
2019022, Jul 25, 2019
Filed:
Jun 19, 2018
Appl. No.:
16/012665
Inventors:
Will John Temple - Placerville CA, US
International Classification:
B60R 19/40
B60R 21/0132
B60R 21/0134
B60R 21/34
Abstract:
An improved bumper system for transportation vehicles () comprising one or more extendable bumpers (-). The extendable bumpers extend substantially outward from a vehicle to provide a greater distance with which to reduce the forces acting upon the occupants and/or cargo of a transportation vehicle in the event of a collision. In some embodiments, the extendable bumpers extend in response to a detected, possible, or likely collision.
