Bar Code Scanner With Keyboard Simulation

US Patent:
5854945, Dec 29, 1998
Filed:
Jan 21, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/781345
Inventors:
Herbert V. Criscito - Denville NJ
Xin Zheng - Northvale NJ
Brian Zhang - Riveredge NJ
Assignee:
Opticon, Inc. - Orangeburg NY
International Classification:
G06F 1300
US Classification:
395882
Abstract:
A bar code scanner having means for reading bar code data and for processing the data includes means for supplying the processed data to a computer having an input/output (I/O) port designed for the connection thereto of an external keyboard. The scanner includes "communication" means for enabling the scanner either to be "wedged" between an external keyboard and the I/O port or to be directly connected to the I/O port. The scanner's "communication" means includes means for sensing whether an external keyboard is connected to the computer and includes means responsive to sensing the absence of an external keyboard connection for producing signals similar to those produced by an external keyboard and for supplying these signals to the computer in order to establish and maintain communication between the scanner and the computer. The bar code scanner may also include means for responding to various computer commands and/or keyboard commands.

Method And Apparatus For Improving The Throughput Of A Ccd Bar Code Scanner/Decoder

US Patent:
5196684, Mar 23, 1993
Filed:
Mar 25, 1991
Appl. No.:
7/674709
Inventors:
Jackson Lum - Roslyn NY
Gerard J. Knight - Nesconset NY
Xin Zheng - Island Park NY
Wenyu Han - Flushing NY
Assignee:
Opticon, Inc. - Orangeburg NY
International Classification:
G06K 710
US Classification:
235462
Abstract:
A method for scanning and decoding the symbols of a bar code label using a CCD image sensor viewing the bar code, and coupled to a signal processor and memory, wherein initially a start of scan (SOS) first level signal is sent from the processor to the CCD image sensor, a digital data signal representative of the bar code is read from the CCD sensor, and the representative data signal read from the CCD sensor is stored in memory. When the SOS signal is at a second signal level, the stored data is validated and decoded to determine if the representative data is valid or invalid. The SOS first level signal is immediately restarted in response to an invalid bar code data signal to recollect bar code data signals from the CCD sensor viewing the bar code so that the scanning steps are repeated, or the SOS first level signal is immediately restarted to re-scan the bar code symbols immediately after the data signal is found valid. Thus, the CCD data collecting scan rate is maximized.

Tim-3 Ligands And Methods Thereof

US Patent:
2014034, Nov 27, 2014
Filed:
Apr 29, 2014
Appl. No.:

International Classification:
C07K 16/18
US Classification:
4241391
Abstract:
The invention relates to isolated polypeptides and nucleic acids encoding polypeptides which comprise a tim-3 IgV domain and a tim-3 intracellular domain, wherein the polypeptides do not comprise a tim-3 mucin domain or a tim-3 transmembrane domain. In addition, the invention relates to methods of modulating immune responses in a subject, comprising administering to the subject a therapeutically effective amount of an agent that modulates tim-3 activity. Immune responses include, but are not limited to, immune tolerance, transplantation tolerance, Th1 responses and Th2 responses.
