Method And System For Facilitating Shipping Via A Third-Party Payment Service

US Patent:
7844497, Nov 30, 2010
Filed:
Dec 31, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/749682
Inventors:
Brian Andrew Phillips - San Francisco CA, US
Chad Meredith Hurley - Palo Alto CA, US
Greg Cervelli - San Jose CA, US
Ki Ching Wong - Sunnyvale CA, US
Paul Arthur Martin - Menlo Park CA, US
Steve Chen - San Jose CA, US
Yu Pan - Mountain View CA, US
Assignee:
eBay Inc. - San Jose CA
International Classification:
G06Q 30/00
US Classification:
705 26, 705 27
Abstract:
An integrated shipping scheme enables users of a third-party payment service to facilitate shipment of packages via a shipping vendor. Web pages corresponding to a web site hosted by the third-party payment service enable a sender to enter ship to: information, while ship from: information may be automatically gathered or manually entered by the sender. The sender is also enabled to enter shipment options, such as package size and weight. Corresponding shipping information is generated and sent “behind the scenes” to a selected shipping vendor. The shipping vendor processes the shipping information, and returns shipment data, including data to generate a shipping label. A web page containing the shipping label is then generated and served to a client operated by the sender, enabling the shipping label to be printed out. At the same time, electronic payment transfer operations are performed to effectively transfer payment from the sender directly to the shipping vendor via the third-party payment service in a manner that is transparent to both the sender and the shipping vendor.

Abstract:
An integrated shipping scheme enables seller users of a third-party payment service to facilitate shipping transactions in connection with payment transactions for items sold by the sellers. Shipping information is automatically gathered and/or entered by the seller via a computer interface hosted by the third-party payment service and sent “behind the scenes” to a selected shipping vendor. The shipping vendor processes the shipping information, and returns shipment data, including data to generate a shipping label. A web page containing the shipping label is then generated and served to a client operated by the seller and displayed on a browser screen, enabling the shipping label to be printed out by the seller. At the same time, electronic payment transfer operations are performed to effectively transfer payment from the seller directly to the shipping vendor via the third-party payment service in a manner that is transparent to both the seller and the shipping vendor.

Visual Presentation Of Video Recommendations

US Patent:
7966632, Jun 21, 2011
Filed:
Dec 12, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/955298
Inventors:
Yu Pan - San Francisco CA, US
Jasson Schrock - Mountain View CA, US
Assignee:
Google Inc. - Mountain View CA
International Classification:
H04N 5/445
US Classification:
725 46, 725 45, 725 47
Abstract:
A system, method and various user interfaces enable visually browsing multiple groups of video recommendations. A group of video recommendations includes a central video and a set of related videos displayed at its corresponding display distance from the central video and from each other. The corresponding display distance of a video is calculated as a function of the video's recommendation score and correlation with other videos of the group. The recommendation score is generated based on a weighted covisitation measure. Visually presenting recommended videos to a user provides a quick and intuitive way to find videos of interest and visualize the browsing of the recommended videos.

Traversing Video Recommendations

US Patent:
8220022, Jul 10, 2012
Filed:
Aug 19, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/193749
Inventors:
Yu Pan - San Francisco CA, US
Jasson Schrock - Mountain View CA, US
Assignee:
Google Inc. - Mountain View CA
International Classification:
H04N 5/445
G06F 3/00
G06F 13/00
US Classification:
725 46, 725 45, 725 47
Abstract:
A system, method and various user interfaces facilitate traversing multiple groups of video recommendations. A group of video recommendations includes a central video, an indicator of video of interest corresponding to the central video, and a set of related videos displayed at its corresponding display distance from the central video and from each other. The corresponding display distance of a video is calculated as a function of the video's recommendation score and correlation with other videos of the group. Responsive to selection of new central video, a new group of video recommendations is generated and displayed in coordination of the existing groups of video recommendations, where the plurality of central videos are visually connected. Visually presenting recommended videos responsive to user selections of videos of interest provides a quick and intuitive way for user to traverse videos of interest and visualize the browsing of the recommended videos.
