Abstract:
An integrated fluid valve assembly comprising a valve having a flexible head, a stem, and at least one leg. In at least one embodiment of the present invention, a fluid valve assembly comprises a retainer and a valve. The valve may be made of a single integrated part that interacts with the retainer to control fluid flow through a fluid system, such as to maintain fluid flow through an automotive oil filter when the filter itself becomes clogged. The valve automatically permits fluid flow through an aperture when the fluid pressure rises to a predetermined set point. In another embodiment of the present invention, a cartridge fluid filter comprises a center tube, a filter media, and a valve that reversibly closes a bypass aperture. In another embodiment of the present invention, a fluid filter includes a center tube, a filter media, a valve that reversibly closes a bypass aperture, and a canister enclosing the center tube, filter media, and valve.

Abstract:
A structural cross car beam for transverse mounting to A-pillars on opposite sides of an automotive vehicle body. The beam comprises outer, intermediate and inner nesting structural members fixed together at upper and lower edge portions and opposite end portions and internally configured to provide a structurally stiff load carrying and support beam. The outer member has a generally U-shaped cross section with upper, rear and lower sides and an open frontal area. The intermediate member has a modified generally W-shaped cross section with upper and lower sides nested with the corresponding sides of the outer member, spaced intermediate sides angled toward one another from adjacent the upper and lower sides to connect with a short front side, and open frontal areas between ends of the short front side and the upper and lower sides of the intermediate member. The inner member has a generally flat cross section closing the open ends of the outer and intermediate members and nesting with the short front side of the intermediate member. The beam provides structural load carrying support between the body A-pillars and for carrying associated components mountable at the forward end of a vehicle passenger compartment.

Abstract:
A relief valve assembly is structurally configured such that a valve seal plate moves relative to a relief valve body from a closed position to an open position when a bypass fluid pressure on a valve seal plate exceeds a bypass threshold of a centering spring. The centering pin of the relief valve assembly includes a spring seat and a pin terminus The relief valve body, relief valve seal plate, centering pin, and centering spring collectively form an extension stop and a transitory centering pin portion. The transitory centering pin portion lies between the spring seat and the extension stop in the closed position, and between the extension stop and the pin terminus in the open position. The centering spring is compressed between the spring seat and the extension stop and engages the spring seat and the extension stop omnidirectionally about a longitudinal axis of the centering pin.

Abstract:
A tip-resistant valve plug comprises a valve head, first and second retention legs, and an anti-tip fin. The valve head defines a fluid barrier. The anti-tip fin and the retention legs extend from the same side of the valve head. The anti-tip fin comprises a groove that allows the valve head to flex along a longitudinal fin axis; the anti-tip fin extends from the side of the valve head to a fin height dimension that is greater than a relief spring compression dimension caused by the tip-resistant valve moving between a closed position and an open position; or the valve head has a smaller moment of inertia evaluated in a direction the anti-tip fin extends across the valve head than a moment of inertia evaluated in a direction normal to the direction the anti-tip fin extends across the valve head.
