Abstract:
A method of performing a network management transaction between a network device, having a network management agent installed thereon, and a remote device, having a web-browser installed thereon, is described. The method involves firstly performing a network management function relating to the network device. Data concerning the network management function is then propagated from the agent to the remote device in a format capable of display by the browser. More specifically, a document is propagated from the agent to the remote device for display by the browser, the document incorporating the data concerning the network management function. The document may be an HTML document. Alternatively, the data may be propagated in a format for display by the browser under the direction of an application program resident of the remote device.

Assignee:
SUB-ONE TECHNOLOGY, INC. - Pleasanton CA
International Classification:
C23C 16/503
C23C 16/455
C23C 16/458
C23C 16/515
C23C 16/52
C23C 16/28
US Classification:
427578, 427569, 118723 E
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition to an interior region of a hollow, tubular, high aspect ratio workpiece are disclosed. A plurality of anodes are disposed in axially spaced apart arrangement, to the interior of the workpiece. A process gas is introduced into the region. A respective individualized DC or pulsed DC bias is applied to each of the anodes. The bias excites the process gas into a plasma. The workpiece is biased in a hollow cathode arrangement. Pressure is controlled in the interior region to maintain the plasma. An elongated support tube arranges the anodes, and receives a process gas tube. A current splitter provides a respective selected proportion of a total current to each anode. One or more notch diffusers or chamber diffusers may diffuse the process gas or a plasma moderating gas. Plasma impedance and distribution may be controlled using various means.

System For Controlling Connection Requests By Each Io Controllers Storing And Managing A Request Queue Wherein Additional Channel Addresses Can Be Added

US Patent:
5878278, Mar 2, 1999
Filed:
Jul 12, 1996
Appl. No.:
8/679167
Inventors:
Paul Peixoto Carreiro - San Jose CA
Alena Chang - San Jose CA
Duc Tich Doan - Fremont CA
Robert R. Fish - San Jose CA
Assignee:
International Business Machines Corporation - Armonk NY
International Classification:
G06F 1314
US Classification:
395859
Abstract:
A data processing system includes a central processing complex consisting of one or more processor units, each of the processor units having one or more input/output channels, a transmission medium connected to each of the input/output channels, and one or more peripheral device controllers such as for controlling one or more direct access storage devices (DASD). In systems having more than one input/output channels, it is common to include a switching mechanism connected between the input/output channels and the control devices for enabling connection between one of a number of controllers and one of a number of channels. Each control device will include an automatic frame transmission function which includes apparatus and method for controlling transmission of frames of information between the control device and the channel. A queue of reconnection requests is constructed and a state machine controls the queue. For example, the state machine reads the queue, loads and sends frames from the controller to the channel, manages a redrive timer and automatically redrives or terminates automatic frame transmission processing depending on system parameters and responses received from the channel or from another controller in controller to controller transmissions.

Storage Management Of Data For Ensuring Communication Of Minimal Length Data

US Patent:
5561824, Oct 1, 1996
Filed:
Oct 4, 1994
Appl. No.:
8/322441
Inventors:
Paul P. Carreiro - San Jose CA
Robert R. Fish - San Jose CA
David R. Nowlen - Morgan Hill CA
Duc T. Doan - Fremont CA
James T. Brady - San Jose CA
Philip G. Bowser - San Jose CA
Assignee:
International Business Machines Corporation - Armonk NY
International Classification:
G06F 1338
US Classification:
395872
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for ensuring the communication of a minimal length data stream in a system including a host and a storage management device is provided. The method and apparatus includes first and second buffers for simultaneously receiving compressed data and the original data from the host. The system compares the length of the data in the first and second buffers. If the data has expanded, indicating that compressed data is longer than the original data, the original data is provided to the storage media. If the data has not expanded, indicating that the original data is longer than the compressed data, then the compressed data is provided to the storage media.
