I am interested in alternative modes of transportation.
In 2006 with a friend, we converted 2 vehicles to battery-electric power: a 1990 Dodge Dakota (my friends) - and a 1986 Mazda B2000 Pickup (mine). I gained a whole new understanding and appreciation for assembly lines.
I am looking forward to see how Lithium Polymer batteries will be used in Electric Vehicles in the coming years. Lead Acid batteries for my truck added 1,500 pounds to the vehicle. A Lithium battery would have weighed less than 500 pounds, would have lasted longer and had greater range.
I hope soon to build a 3-wheel Diesel vehicle based on Robert Q. Riley's XR3. I am considering using a Hydraulic system as a method of moving the vehicle, rather than the standard VW transmission the plans call for.
