Systems And Methods For Local Demand Optimization

US Patent:
2016027, Sep 22, 2016
Filed:
Mar 17, 2016
Appl. No.:
15/073132
Inventors:
- Minneapolis MN, US
Khashayar Nodehi Fard Haghighi - Maple Grove MN, US
Erik Alan Amundson - Rogers MN, US
David Heim - Minneapolis MN, US
Dean Eriksson - Brooklyn Park MN, US
Anthony Charles Sorvari - Shoreview MN, US
Assignee:
Open Access Technology International, Inc. - Minneapolis MN
International Classification:
H02J 3/14
G05B 15/02
H04L 12/28
H02J 13/00
H04L 29/08
H04L 12/66
Abstract:
Systems and methods are provided, which provide for the de-centralization of the logic necessary to perform electrical optimization of any contained electrical system. The systems and methods de-centralize, or distribute, electrical optimization logic into intelligent devices which are locally connected to both the generation and loads, in such a way that control can be asserted over these resources. The inventive systems and methods require less infrastructure and communication backbone to IT/Data Center infrastructure than are typically required by previous systems and methods known in the art.

Cloud-Based Microgrid Control

US Patent:
2015026, Sep 17, 2015
Filed:
Mar 17, 2015
Appl. No.:
14/660312
Inventors:
- Minneapolis MN, US
Khashayar Nodehi Fard Haghighi - Maple Grove MN, US
Erik Amundson - Rogers MN, US
David D. Heim - Minneapolis MN, US
Naveen Ranganath - Plymouth MN, US
Dean Eriksson - Brooklyn Park MN, US
Long Duong - Maple Grove MN, US
Damian Cieslicki - Los Altos CA, US
Ebrahim Vaahedi - West Vancouver, CA
Assignee:
OPEN ACCESS TECHNOLOGY INTERNATIONAL, INC. - Minneapolis MN
International Classification:
G05F 1/66
G05B 15/02
H04L 9/32
G06F 17/50
Abstract:
A method and system of optimizing microgrid operations is provided. One or more intelligent microgrid coordinators interface with the microgrid such that those microgrid coordinators are able to measure and control all microgrid asset activities. The microgrid coordinator is used to forecast the microgrid's demanded load more accurately, and assign asset commands so as to optimize microgrid consumption, generation, and storage of load. The method and system incorporate a valuation of dispatchable load in optimization functions. The microgrid coordinator is further used to protect the microgrid assets from over-current situations when the microgrid is connected to the bulk electric system and when islanded. The method and system provide a means to test the microgrid controller prior to implementation on the microgrid in order to assure proper operation.

Secure Installation Of Encryption Enabling Software Onto Electronic Devices

US Patent:
2015005, Feb 19, 2015
Filed:
Oct 7, 2013
Appl. No.:
14/047596
Inventors:
- Minneapolis MN, US
Sasan Mokhtari - Eden Prairie MN, US
Erik Amundson - ROGERS MN, US
Naveen Ranganath - PLYMOUTH MN, US
Anthony Sorvari - SHOREVIEW MN, US
David Heim - MINNEAPOLIS MN, US
Assignee:
SmartGuard, LLC - Minneapolis MN
International Classification:
H04L 29/06
US Classification:
713156
Abstract:
A process/method is provided, which authenticates electronic devices allowing the installation and utilization of encryption enabling software capable of facilitating a public key infrastructure in combination with electronic devices without need for such encryption enabling software capable of facilitating a public key infrastructure to be installed at the same time as manufacture of the electronic device. The disclosed process/method may then provide a system for monitoring various metrics and statuses of the electronic devices through the manufacturing chain, distribution chain and product lifecycle. The process/method can be utilized to create electronic devices secured with encryption enabling software capable of facilitating a public key infrastructure, free from the security risks inherent with the current method of installing encryption enabling software onto electronic devices, which will render such secured electronic devices suitable for tasks requiring such enhanced security or encryption. Moreover, electronic devices utilizing the disclosed process/method to install encryption enabling software capable of facilitating a public key infrastructure will be enabled to benefit from and facilitate public key infrastructure functionality, including, but not limited to, the renew encryption enabling software on a defined renewal interval.
