Railroad Rail Retaining Clip Staging And Removal Apparatus And Method

US Patent:
8499695, Aug 6, 2013
Filed:
Jan 22, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/009525
Inventors:
Ilia Petkov - Colorado Springs CO, US
International Classification:
E01B 29/24
US Classification:
104 172
Abstract:
A rail-tie connecting clip engagement/disengagement apparatus for slidably attaching opposite bottom portions of a rail to a tie thereunder with clips each having an outer portion having opposite lateral openings; wherein a first rail side of said apparatus, used to engage/disengage one bottom side of the rail to the tie with one clip, comprises: a) a pair of similar opposite lateral arms, each having an inner hooked end portion to engage one of the lateral openings, a central pivot portion, and an outer end portion carrying one of a cam and a cam follower; b) the other of the cam and the cam follower, being an actuating arm, motivated by the outer end portion thereof to cause appropriate engagement/disengagement of the hooked end portions in the opposite lateral openings of the clip; c) bias means to maintain the cam in contact with the cam follower; and, d) lateral arm longitudinal movement means to jointly move the arms to and away from the rail, to thereby push/pull the clip when engaged by the hooked end portion of the arms. After the hooked end portions of the pair of arms jointly engage the U shaped clip, the clip may be alternatively pushed over engaging the bottom portion of the rail, or alternatively pulled therefrom, disengaging the bottom portion of the rail from the tie.

Locking Device

US Patent:
5628216, May 13, 1997
Filed:
Jan 13, 1995
Appl. No.:
8/372790
Inventors:
Khurshid A. Qureshi - Colorado Springs CO
Ilia Petkov - Colorado Springs CO
Nasir Uddin - Colorado Springs CO
Assignee:
Schlage Lock Company - San Francisco CA
International Classification:
E05B 4700
US Classification:
70279
Abstract:
A locking device is disclosed, comprising a locking mechanism having a locked position and an unlocked position, a hollow plunger member having a central axis, the hollow plunger member being engaged with the locking mechanism to move the locking mechanism alternatively into the locked and unlocked positions upon reciprocating linear motion of the hollow plunger member in first and second directions along its central axis, and a motor having a shaft disposed coaxial with the central axis of the hollow plunger member is disclosed. In one embodiment, the locking device further comprises a spring having first and second ends, the first end being fixed to the motor shaft, and a pin fixed to the hollow plunger member for engaging the second end of the spring such that when the motor shaft rotates in a third direction the hollow plunger member moves in the first direction and when the motor shaft rotates in a fourth direction the hollow plunger member moves in the second direction. In another embodiment, the locking device further comprises a threaded member disposed on the motor shaft and a threaded surface disposed at an interior of the hollow plunger member to engage the threaded member such that when the motor shaft rotates in a third direction the hollow plunger member moves in the first direction and when the motor shaft rotates in a fourth direction the hollow plunger member moves in the second direction.

Needle Board Stripping Press Apparatus

US Patent:
5509185, Apr 23, 1996
Filed:
Jun 15, 1994
Appl. No.:
8/259882
Inventors:
Ilia D. Petkov - Colorado Springs CO
International Classification:
B23P 1904
US Classification:
29252
Abstract:
A needle board stripping press apparatus including 1) a main support table frame assembly; 2) a stationary top plate press assembly mounted on the main support table frame assembly; 3) a movable needle board support assembly connected to the stationary top plate press assembly and reciprocally movable vertically thereon; 4) a cam actuator and power drive assembly connected to the main support table frame assembly and engagable with the movable needle board support assembly to cause subject reciprocal movement; and 5) an electrical drive and control assembly operably connected to the cam actuator and power drive assembly. The movable needle board support assembly is provided with a needle board support frame assembly to receive a needle board assembly securely and releasably mounted thereon. The movable needle board support assembly moves the attached needle board assembly upwardly into engagement with the stationary top plate press assembly to hold the needle members in an upright position and subsequently contact a transverse support plate member which causes ejection of the needle members. Through the electrical drive and control assembly, the movable needle board support assembly is automatically cycled from a home position to an ejection position and returned to the home position.

Railroad Frog Assembly With Multi-Position Holdback

US Patent:
6164602, Dec 26, 2000
Filed:
Feb 17, 1999
Appl. No.:
9/251841
Inventors:
Stephen R. Kuhn - Richton Park IL
Keith Young - Naperville IL
Ilia Petkov - Colorado Springs CO
Assignee:
ABC Rail Products Corporation - Chicago IL
International Classification:
E01B 710
US Classification:
246382
Abstract:
A railroad frog assembly is provided with a spring wing rail multi-position holdback subassembly that continuously retains the spring wing rail in each spring wing rail open position when activated by the wheels of a railcar traversing the frog assembly, and that automatically deactivates the multi-position holdback subassembly and releases the spring wing rail from retention in an open condition and for complete closing after the last railcar wheel has passed through the frog assembly.

Electrocoagulation Chamber With Atmospheric And Pressurized Flow Regimes

US Patent:
2015035, Dec 10, 2015
Filed:
May 28, 2015
Appl. No.:
14/724793
Inventors:
- Largo FL, US
Ilia Petkov - Colorado Springs CO, US
Michael Czarniecki - Cascade CO, US
Assignee:
F&T Water Solutions LLC - Largo FL
International Classification:
C02F 1/463
Abstract:
A pressure vessel () accumulates an aqueous stream at elevated pressure and feeds it through a pressure retaining array of passages () in the bottom wall of a modular reaction chamber () that operates at atmospheric pressure. Spaced electrodes () treat the stream during upward flow to the open top of the chamber, where the treated stream overflows the chamber and falls into an inter-wall volume between the chamber and an outside housing (), washing foam from the housing and chamber as it exits. A housing cover () establishes headspace over the chamber to accommodate the overflow. The entire chamber () is removable from the housing () by loosening fasteners () in the bottom wall () and lifting it free, with no impediment due to clogging or corrosion outside the chamber.
