A multi-stage process and system for converting solid particulate biomass in a riser reactor having at least two different reaction zones. A lower reaction zone is configured to optimize pyrolysis of the biomass into pyrolysis products, while an upper reaction zone is configured to efficiently crack the pyrolysis products. Abstract:
A process for the production of alkyl ethers including feeding a hydrocarbon feedstock and a first alcohol feedstock to a fixed bed reactor containing an etherification catalyst. The hydrocarbon feedstock and the first alcohol feedstock are contacted in the first fixed bed reactor to react the isoolefins with the alcohol in the presence of the etherification catalyst to produce a first product stream. The first product stream is fed together with a hydrogen feedstock and a second alcohol feedstock to a catalytic distillation reaction system containing a trifunctional catalyst to concurrently isomerize at least a portion of the alpha-olefins, hydrogenate at least a portion of the diolefins, and etherify at least a portion of the isoolefins and alcohol, producing a bottoms product comprising the one or more ethers and an overhead product comprising n-alkanes, isoalkanes, unreacted alpha-olefins, unreacted internal-olefins, unreacted isoolefins, and unreacted alcohol.

Systems and methods for the production of a high purity isoamylene product. The isoamylene in a mixed hydrocarbon stream may initially be converted to TAME via etherification, and a subsequent decomposition of the TAME may result in a high purity isoamylene stream with very low impurities that is suitable for a variety of petrochemical applications, such as for use in the production of fragrances, pesticides, peroxides, polymer antioxidants, UV stabilizers and hydrocarbon resins.

Abstract:
Methods for preparing waterborne heat seal coating compositions are disclosed, including (A) melt blending an ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer, a tackifier, and a wax in a first mixing apparatus to form a melt blend, (B) contacting the melt blend with an initial aqueous stream comprising a neutralizing agent, water, and a surfactant in an emulsification zone of the second mixing apparatus to form a dispersion, and (C) diluting the dispersion with water in a dilution zone of the second mixing apparatus to form the waterborne heat seal coating composition. Methods for preparing waterborne heat seal coating compositions are also disclosed, including (A) melt blending an ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer, a tackifier, and a wax in a mixing and conveying zone of a mixing apparatus to form a melt blend, (B) contacting the melt blend with an initial aqueous stream comprising a neutralizing agent, water, and a surfactant in an emulsification zone of the mixing apparatus to form a dispersion, and (C) diluting the dispersion with water in a dilution zone of the mixing apparatus to form the waterborne heat seal coating composition, wherein the length-to-diameter ratio of the extruder mixing apparatus is greater than or equal to 12 to 1. Waterborne heat seal coating compositions prepared according to the disclosed methods are also disclosed.

Processes and systems for the conversion of hydrocarbons herein may include separating an effluent from a moving bed reactor, the effluent including reaction product, first particulate catalyst, and second particulate catalyst. The separating may recover a first stream including the reaction product and first particulate catalyst and a second stream including second particulate catalyst. The second stream may be admixed with a regenerated catalyst stream including both first and second particulate catalyst at an elevated temperature. The admixing may produce a mixed catalyst at a relatively uniform temperature less than the elevated regenerated catalyst temperature, where the temperature is more advantageous for contacting light naphtha and heavy naphtha within the moving bed reactor to produce the effluent including the reaction product, the first particulate catalyst, and the second particulate catalyst.

Abstract:
A method for forming an anode of a sodium ion battery includes a step of heat treating the red phosphorus precursor and reduced graphene oxide powder at a first temperature that vaporizes the red phosphorus precursor such that red phosphorus structures grow on the reduced graphene oxide powder. Another method for forming an anode of a sodium ion battery includes steps of placing a red phosphorus precursor and a graphene oxide precursor in a reaction chamber; establishing a reducing environment in the reaction chamber; and heating the red phosphorus precursor and a graphene oxide precursor to a first temperature that is sufficient temperature to form a composite of red phosphorus and reduced graphene oxide. Characteristically, red phosphorus deposition and graphene oxide reduction are completed simultaneously in a single-step heat treatment. A method for making a black phosphorus-composite for sodium-ion batter anodes is also provided.
